This would be a good one to visit as a "Lookie Lou". I just might try to do that. Thre requirements for authenticity are far too stringent for me to meet at present; but I'd sure like to see the happenings! ;D

Perryville is a good event. My unit goes to it some, but this year we opted to go to Blue Springs at Mosheim, TN in Oct.

Shiloh, does your unit have any corporate sponsors or get any grant money?

Nope, and no dues either. We get paid $5/head at Nat'l Park events is about all.

OK then so all the expense is born by the members. Do you guys divide it up or is everyone responsible for their own expenses?

We pay our own way. Once in a while we'll find ourselves with a compnay fund that allows a purchase of something, and the unit votes to decide what to buy. For instance, we had a few hundred bucks built up last year, and voted to buy-out a new guy's leather and musket to keep a a "company gun" to lend to newbies or as a spare at events. The new guy bought a new set up and became very ill at his 1st event and his Dr. ordered him never to camp or re-enact again, so we bought him out so he wasn't out much money.
