histpres.mtsu.edu/tncivwar/TCWNHA%20Summer%202006%20color%20pages.pdfThe TN Civil War buffs have a new battlefield that has finally been recognized and will be preserved. Parker's Crossroads in West TN on I-40 has won State protection and funding finally after many years. I call it a "partial" victory because many years ago, I-40 was allowed to slice the historic site completely in-two. Anyway, now they will receive funding and be protected from further encorachments.

I think they have about 300 acres, but can't say for sure. I have only been to the site once several years ago, besides the many times on I-40 I have driven THROUGH it. WhenI was there last, they only had som esmall plots that were mostly not even connected saved, and thise were simply saved when farmers sold land and the Civil War trust funds allowed the group to buy the lands. I need to get over there sometime soon to see what they have done with it.
