I just love to shoot long range and have a hard time to pick just one gun, so I try to take 2 with me at all times (This also helps when you knock the scope off on the other one) but if I had to pick one gun out of the ones that I have shot, I would have to go with my .300 WSM. M-70 Shadow. I think this is the best all around for "ME" (yes I do only mean me when I say this and not trying to in ply anything for anyone else!!!!) I like what I can do with it and would take it for anything but the big deadly game and I think that it would also work on them but I like to hedge my bets some. OK who is next?

My generall favorite centerfire to use is a Marlin 1895SS .45-70. It is compact and handy and has the "knock-down" power with my handloads to take brontosaurs should I ever need it. For longer range hunting, such as when I hunt a certain farm with lots of open space, I like my Springfield M1A Nat'l Match. I rarely use it for hunting, but have made a 600-615 yds open-sighted hit on a coyote there once. But, my favorite hunting gun nine days in ten is a customized CVA Hawken .50". There's just something I connect with when I tote that browned octagonal barrel in the woods.

My favorite is my Savage .270. I don't really know why except it was the first good rifle I ever bought.

Well after 19 years of shotgun only I get to hunt with a rifle so it's going to be my 1903 Springfield in 30-06.

A little late , but I like my 300 wsm I took it elk hunting last year and the range finder said the elk was 342 yards I took the shot and the elk took 2 steps and dropped. The next day I went after a mule deer and it only took one shot. This gun just feels good and shoots great.

I guess it depends on what game I going to hunt.. I have Winchester model 70 in .264 Win mag. I used on my mule deer and pronghorn hunts out west.. If I go for Elk, Moose or Bear I take my Ruger M77/MK II SS in .338 Win mag. But ,my favorite is when I'm hunting in my own state of NY, I use my Remington model 600 Mohawk in .308, it's more than enough for any deer or Bear that would walk into my sights.. I also have many others choices depending on the season that's open, like muzzle loading or shotgun only areas..

Tough question. I like my .22Hornet for everything from coyotes to deer (close range head shots).
I have killed several critters with my .30-06 Remington 742 and love the extra range I get with it, but I asked myself out of ll of the guns I own, if I could save only one from a fire or flood or something; which would I save.
A Hawkin model .50cal., What a coincidence Shiloh and Steve?
The reason for that is that I do have great memories of hunting with that gun and it's brought down it's share of deer, but it was the first gun my Grandaddy ever made. When I was a kid, I remember all the time he spent getting it just right. He was newly retired with heart trouble and muzzleloading became his hobby. Hobby cheapens it somehow though. It wasn't his whole world, but it was a huge part of it.
Anyway his first gun, that Hawkin, was special to him and it's certainly special to me. I try to hunt with it at least once a year because when I do, I get to spend another day with Grandaddy.
