Hey Camp Cooks, how's everybody. Well I hope. My son and I have been eyeballin' one of these Mauser K98 rifles that sell for around $300 with quite a few accessories. Has anyone bought one of these sets or know of anyone who has. They claim to be new rifles. We may get two of them if any of you gunsmithin' folks think they are worth it. I would like to customize one of them in a unique cartridge. Do you think they would handle a 7mmWSM? But then again, I wouldn't mind keeping it somewhat original and go with the 7mm Mauser. I want something in a seven. Give me your thoughts. Thanks.

I had one,but I thought it was an 8MM!!! OH WELL, so thats why I couldnt hit the broadside of a barn....Actually they have one of ther best the best bolt actions , very strong and a shade short of a 30-06 in FPS.......I'm sorry I sold it....You probably have a good price if its new.....Mine was older and I paid 85 for it and sold it for 150 about 10 years ago...........

I had a 98 that was bedded as a sniper weapon with the floating barrel and switched to 3006. I paid a hundred for it in 82 and sold it in 86 after redoing the stock and blue for 300.00. Sweet weapon; but a hell of a long bolt! ;D

My son and I went to a gun show here in town Saturday. He bought a Mitchel in 8mm. It is in premium grade, which they list on their website at $499. He got it for $365, including tax. I want to tell you, if you want a high quality, brand spankin' new mauser 98 made in 1942 +/-, order one of these before they're gone. They are beautiful. He's chompin' at the bit to get to the range. We are seriously thinking of getting a couple more, just to have. ;D I'll let you know how it shoots. We're going to the range Monday.

I looked at a 98 last week that had been rechambered/barreled into a .270. Price was $600.
