Well, I made up my mind, no more scopes. Took them off and went back to the iron sights. Just couldn't get them to stay. I'd get them zeroed then let them cool off and they be way off again.

Hey Mars, If you mount the scope on the barrel of your shotgun or use an after market scope mount that is not directly attached to the receiver you will do far bettter

OOOHHHH DDDUUUUHHH me! The Mossberg was drilled and tapped on the reciever for a standard Weaver base. I took both guns to a gunsmith who pointed this out. Talk about feeling the fool. He's redoing both guns and zeroing them for me and I get to shoot them on his range to get them zeroed with him watching. This is the only way he would "fix" them for me. I guess he thinks someone dumb enough to not know his gun was tapped for a scope already probaly doesn"t know how to shoot.

I'm not dumb after all! (Don't listen to the wife!) The Mossberg wasn't tapped for a scope. It needed a saddle mount though but now everything is tight and zeroed in. The Mossberg is shooting into the same hole at 50 yards and a little X at 100. The Remington because of the red dot scope is shooting within 2 inches at 50 yards which is good enough for the wife to use. Using Lightfield sabots instead of the sluggers. Now if the deer see things my way.

That guy did a great job on the scope mount and sighting in. Shot 6 deer with it with out a problem. Time to switch to muzzleloaders. ;D

Griz is no longer a member of OCC. Suggest you refer your questions to Shiloh or contact DaGriz through the NAHC Life Member or Miscellaneous boards. In the mean time, can one of you other guys help cage out here? ;D

Cage any good smith can pin the barrel...as for 'lightfield" slugs I'm not all tht familar with the brand...but as with any gun you might want to get a couple of different brands and see what it likes best...one gun of the same make mod and cal/gauge might like one brand of shell while another identical gun may like a different one completly......on pinning the pump gun be sure that's what you really want to do before doing it as it is an irrevesible alteration....

I recently bought a savage 210f but haven't used it for hunting yet. Just been to the range a couple of times. Shoots great with Hornady SST's. Where I hunt on Ft Benning, there are some areas that are slug only but you can use any pistol caliber you want. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it? Can't use a 30/30 but can use a 500 S&W???

It's like that on a lot of WMA's that I hog hunt on. No centerfire rifles, but I've seen guys carrying T/C contenders in .375mag.
My little Winchester 1300 12g. does a really nice job with Federal slugs in 3". I'm going to take it out a time or two next week, just for the heck of it. I mostly bowhunt, but this year have had to do a lot of black powder hunting for a couple of the magazines.
I thought I'd do a couple of hunts with my shotgun. If I get lucky, I'll have something different to write about.

That's what they did in Illinois . Now you can carry a pistol chambered in rifle cal. Makes no sense. Still happy with my slug gun still shoots as good as the day i got it but only use it when i go up there. Filled both my tags this year. Makes six years in a row i've been lucky.

I've got to start looking at autoloaders for next season. Probaly go with a Mossberg. Both have to be 20ga and one with and one without a scope and preferably youth size.

I got a Remington "NRA Sportsmans" 11-87 I won in 2006 at a Friends of the NRA banquet. Got it for investing $10.00 on the black jack table.
It did me well for duck hunting this past year. For 2007 I'm gonna get a slug barrel for it.
I really wanted a Raging Bull 454, but the slug barrel is about 1/3 of the cost of the revolver.......

Until Remington decides to re-sponsor Jim Zumbo I will not be buying any of their products.
