I was thinking about getting a stoger M2000 for my all around bird gun. I was wondering what you guys think about it. The stoger has a inertia driven system that was adopted by Benelli. I was wondering, since there is no gas system to reduce the recoil then that gun is going to kick a hell of a lot harder than say and rem 1100 or 11-87. what do you guys think about the Charles Daly VR-MC autoloader??? Sry i haven't posted in a long time, i have lots to do now that its hunting season, i also gotta play basketball, and go to school.

Hey turkey good to see you. Sorry I can't help much here cause I don't do a lot of bird hunting. Probably your best bet would be to talk to Marland Sample over at Shotgun World . He is probably the hottest shotgun guru around the campus. I can tell you though that I don't see a lot of folk using auto loaders who are bird hunters. The better shooters generally are seen using a side by side double; probably because they are more accurate and quicker on target. I use auto loaders for rabbit and squirrel and sometimes deer. Never found recoil to be a problem even using the singles. I can also tell you that in the mid 60s a Charles Daley double was one of the best guns you could get your hands on. Today's modern Charles Daleys might be OK; never fired one, but I don't like what I see. Having used virtually every other auto loader made I must tell you that my very favorite turns out to be a Mossberg 410. Next to that I liked the Winchester 1200 and then the Remington 1100 all even better than my Brwoning . A boy up in Iowa a few years ago who could shoot pretty well used my Mossberg to bust a hundred clays without a miss. He is a bird hunter, I'm not; still like that gun though!

I hate doubles, i cant hit nothing with them, ou or sbs either one i am terrible with, but give me a single barrel pump or auto, i can take ducks down like that. i just took a look at the Franchi I-12 and havent read any bad reviews, whadya think bou the Franchi??

Sorry I did not see this before, Well first off: the 2000 is a nice gun, I shot about 3 boxes of shells though one that was new (less then 2 boxes before I got my hands on it) and with light trap loads, it was great... Mommy got me a CD about 9 years ago and I love the gun, talked my Dad and a cousin into getting one for Duck, Goose and Turkey. We also shot a lot of trap and skeet with them. BTW: I am getting a new one for Mommy sense CD is now making them in a lefty modle... I would also look at the 2000 if they had a lefty but they do not now... I have shot well over 10,000 with my CD to date and a small shot of oil and it works great...

Sorry about that, all the CD's are the Simi-Auto's and are as good as any out there that I have seen. They are a copy of Berata's 390-A. You use Rem chokes in them. The 2000 is a cleaner gun shooting but with just a li'l cleaning (like the Rem 1100/11-87) and you have a good gun.
