Thanks, Paws...
In the scale of friendship, you're at the "diamond" level.
A couple of updates:
Jim (in Scotland) is holding up in true highlander custom in dealing with the death of his son, though they are still in a bit of a state of shock as is understandable. Jim's view is that the Gates of Heaven now have another guard. Jim and Rena have kept close tabs on the condition of the American SSgt, who was also injured in the incident. Last word is that the sargeant is expected to recover. They are expecting Ian (the son) to be returned home by the first part of this week for final arrangements. We have a support group going there as well.
Ray and Angela Traylor (Mr. and Mrs. Bossman) have much holdings in real estate, and in fact, I believe she is an agent. RWT Enterprises (their company) has set up an account to help them out with things. I suggested someone set up an account for the children's college funds. We are still working on that aspect. I have heard from several other mutual friends in the area there, and it seems that everyone has developed a protective and supportive role toward the family. In browsing around the online part of Paulding County, Georgia, it is heartwarming to see how the community has come together in support of Angela and the girls. Since he was big in community affairs, especially in helping underprivileged children, it seems the community wishes to return the favor. I read an article from some of the people in professional wrestling who are trying to get something going for the family as well.
Despite his rough and ready persona in the make believe world of professional wrestling, he was a quiet and gentle giant. Most of the photos I have away from the professional side, he is usually surrounded by all the neighborhood children...just another big happy kid himself. Most people outside of his hometown never knew he was an avid outdoorsman (and golfer). Show me a southern country-boy who don't hunt and fish, and I'll show you a transplanted impostor.
People like that will always be missed when they depart, but we who are left on this old world can be thankful for having known them, and take note of the example they have provided.

Phil,
I will post again when I have more data about the situation in Georgia with Angela and the girls. I emailed a lady that I know to be a good friend of the family to see if something is in the works. Hopefully I'll hear something back in a few days.
As far as my friend in the "Auld Country," I think they are going to be okay. Jim is retired from the Royal Marine Corps, and I believe they are people of means. Just a few days before the bad news, he and I were discussing their trip to the States about this time next year. He was having a difficult time finding a decent road atlas of the USA and Canada. I got one from my auto insurance company that is top notch. I will go ahead and send it after things settle down a bit. For a personal touch, I plan to put in transparent overlays to show where different mutual friends live in the states so if it fits their itenerary, they can drop in for a visit. I know they were planning some stuff on the east coast before heading cross-country to the Pacfic Northwest to do some fishing. Jim sure loves his motorcycles and his fishing...but contrary to the fact that golf was created in Scotland...he told me, "Aye, laddie, I kin see better ways to spend me time than battering a weel white ball senseless acrost the lawn!" This guy is a trip!
Here is his version of why dogs were created, in his highland brogue as told him by his grandfather:
Pretty cool, eh?
