Heard this on the way home this evening and immediately thought of you. Now, that's what I call music. You know, that might even be called a gospel song! ;D

Faith, Where in the world did you hear that at.You had to search for it. ;D Was on WOUB radio during their Sunday evening Bluegrass show - right before "Hornpipe and Fruge" comes on]. There was another song called "That's How the Cookie Crumbles" by Jack Cooke. Just haven't been able to find a video or free download of it yet.

Applied for and was approved for SS yesterday to begin on Jul 1st. I received an extra $33 per month for the few months of military service in 1967. It went well, to my surprise.

Well it is beginning to look like I may survive the 211 Spring event. Sure hope this doesn't become an annual thing. I finished the antibiotics and am still on Psudofed, Robitussin, Mucinex, and one other thing. I had to visit the Optometrist Tuesday to check out the "freckel" she found in my left eye six months ago. It turned out OK but I couldn't see a thing. The dye went into my sinuses and set me on fire and turned my snot fluorescent yellow! The fever is gone so I guess it is safe to be around other people now but I'm as weak as a baby. I'm slowly getting stronger but as of last Sunday I was only good vertical for a little over an hour. I made it upright near all day yesterday with only a couple of short "lay-me-downs". m Half of my weight gain since last year's loss is gone again. I'm back under 210. Doc wants to put me on weight training and insulin. I think I'm going to go ahead and do both. She says that exercise is more important than diet..

Doc put me on a new diabetes medication. It is an injectible enzyme called Victoza. Supposed to show improvement within two weeks. If it doesn't, I toss it. He says it has not the side effects of insulin; ergo, weight gain. By the way I'm at 206 now vice 213 Monday. We'll see where this goes. Looks like one way or another these medicos are bound to get me on a needle! I check A1C in six weeks and start monitoring glucose levels daily to set baselines for Victoza, insulin and weight training introduction.

Shocker #1: Guess what nation is now a diabetes epidemic..... Nope not the US, The Republic of the Philippines! Shocker #2: My buddy informs me that the PI was a major repository/storage area for agent orange dioxins during the Vietnam war. Shocker #3: It is estimated that if all military vets suffering from diabetes were presumptively approved for service connected disability resulting from contact with agent orange "outside" the combat zones of Vietnam the roles would increase by 800,000 recipients. Aw shucks that was India not the Philippines. (Just pretend the bubble gum is egg!)

Lost another buddy this morning. Mr Harley Davidson 1995 - 31 Dec 2011. He was a hand shaker and loved Harmonica. His favorite tune was "Serenaded by angels."

Breakfast this morning of French toast, home fries and smoked sausage was a real revelation and just might be a tell all of just what is wrong with America. Let's start with the French toast. Bad enough it is "French" toast but this French toast was actually Italian bread, baked in Cincinnati, Ohio, of grain grown in Russia, using eggs laid in Pennsylvania, cinnamon from Madagascar, milk from a cow in Dayton, vanilla from Africa, salt from Australia and only God knows where the honey came from as it is more than twenty years old. Now my Grandpa knew about French toast because he was there in the "Big One" WW1 around 1918. He had Grandma fix it for him on occasion. Now, his eggs came from his own hen house, his milk from his own cows, the flour was either Gold Medal ground and bagged up the road near Gallapolis or at White's Mill here in Athens. The bread of course was done in Grandma's wood cook stove or later on in her fancy propane gas oven. She didn't have that until 1960 and no electricity before 1962. The butter he churned himself or sometimes Grandma would slip in some Pure Cow's butter from the United Dairy in town. No idea where the spices were coming from at that time but am pretty sure old Juan Valdez was making his living growing things that were legal to buy, sell or ingest! My sausage came from Germany using a Polish sausage recipe. Because of the war, Grandpa knew about German and Polish sausage his though came from his own hogs bred, raised, butchered and processed right there on his place. Same thing with the potatoes. One of his favorite sayings was "Essen kertoflin mit der kobble." This was one of the first things he learned in German or "Eat potatoes with a fork." Mine were grown in Idaho according to the bag but his were grown like all of his vegetables right there on his farm and stored in the root cellar until needed. I got a bit caught up in the moment staring at my breakfast and wishing for a more simple time, a time of hard work being it's own reward and providing for your own table a way of life. Gee I sure do miss America.

More "awe shits" during my semi-annual VA Doctoral ass chewing. Go in for insulin injection training Friday. Failed the EKG and have to go to Chilicothe for a stress test.

Sonofabitch! Hate to hear you's having to start needleing. We's been thinking of having a 5 yr celebratory cookout. Can you believe it's been that long since the "Ivy Incident". I think we got it under control. It's been 2 years since I had an outbreak. Even have a little pool if anyone gets overheated while on grill duty. When before June 11 is good for you?

Phil is without power, as are many in SE Ohio. I was out in the storm coming to my daughter's, as my AC went out. Then, I was on the road taking my dog to the kennel. Many trees were down near Tuppers Plain SR 681 was blooked ...some dear sole cut the one tree that had the roadway blocked after I had tried several ways to get to the Kennel. The kennel owner was on his way to to me with his tractor and chain saw.
Then in TP there was a metal roof along side the road..no clue where it had come from. Many trees were down along US 50. No power from TP to Dodgeridge County, WV. Driving into to Clarksburg all dark and Bridgeport, WV. But where Greta lives there is power.
Coolspot at Coolville, OH has a generator and as of this AM autos are 60-70 in line for gas! WOW!
I called the one that rents my farm and he says the power is off at my house, but no wind damage. However, he was not so lucky parts of his barn and hay shed have roofing blown off.
Phil told me on the phone that Athens is mostly shut down and the power could be off as long as 5-7 days.
Phil also said the old house beside him has a tree on it with the transformer and he had sent Sue a photo and told her this is her problem!
So, this is an up-date from SE Ohio from Bridgeport, WV

Everyone be prepared to duck and cover!! Just talked to Phil. Power's still not on and he is STEAMED!!! Both at AEP and physically from the heat. Says he's staying put with the critter kids and is doing as well as can be expected. Latest map shows she should be up and running by no later than tomorrow.
