www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2007-01-06-baghdad-initiative_x.htm?csp=24It looks to me like the major obstacle in this mess is a power struggle between Bush and Mslaki! Combined with this disagreement Bush has either developed a serious case of optical-rectal obfuscation or possibly a terminal case of lingus tongue tidus maximus! The boy may have the right idea, maybe he has all along but if he does, he sure as hell can't seem to "spit it out!" Tell you this, if Malaki doesn't want to do the right thing and continues to play politics with the lives of our folk at stake we need to leave the place PDQ! Maybe we should sugest they all learn to speak Farsi and take out Iranian citizenship!

Paws, there is a lot that I could talk about on this thread but some of you know that I can not. On this one I will say: I would like to see them bring about 1/3 to 1/2 our troops home and bring in more Speciel Forces troops to train then Iraqis and then let them keep the peace. I know it will work and if the dang news will leave us a lone, we can still win this war. Hell, I thought we was winning this war when I left... Oh ya, I do know the ROE's and will be armed...LOL...

You bet your butt you will be and if you need a clean throw down I have three! You are right on the proposed switch. Get the troops the hell out of there and imbed instructors with the Iraqi forces. We need to get the American flag out of Iraq and and get SOFs and SFs in there teaching teamwork and basic police procedures. I would probably hire a lot of kurds for muscle. It would help if Iraq would start arresting folk and enforcing their own laws. That would include politicians at the highest levels. The National Government needs to take a hard look at Malakis intent because it appears to me that he plans on becoming the number 2 in Iraq behind that fool with the militia who intends to become number 1. That would emulate the set up Iran has and so ends any chance at democracy.
