Broadwell Hills has asked us to support "a thing!" This thing will be held at the Learning Center outside Stewart next Saturday. There will be lectures and presentations on various sustainability topics focusing on wildlife flora and fauna of the area. Lunch will be served consisting of a variety of dried beef products, a Spring soup, cheeses, salads, and various breads made on site over coals and open campfires. ;D I could use a volunteer or two to help but mostly just be there if you can to have some fun and get out in the fresh air. That's Saturday next the 25th and events will start around 10:00 with lunch at noon. Check out the Broadwell hills link for directions and contact information under the "Athen's Own" logo here on the home page in the links section. Hope to see you there.

Gee Paws, I don't wanna appear that I don't support ya, but it's a little far to drive. It is just gas money. Jump in your truck and go! It's not like you have anything else to do.

Yep, I'm a jealous man!
I'd have loved to have been there and get to hang out with you guys in person. Old Paws has a bear hug that's a long time coming!
Wish these pictures would pull up, but my archaic dial-up sstem just won't do it unless somebody resizes the photos. They start to pull up and it times out on me. Bummer...
Glad ya'll had a good time!

Howdy Folks!!!
Wow...I even remembered my password! I'm impressed since I'm not remembering much of anything these days.
Well, the Ohio Camp Cooks and the Ohio Dutch Oven Enthusiasts pulled off a great event AGAIN!
The food was great, as usual, and I am so thankful to have been able to field all the questions, etc., without having to worry about the food arrangements. I could trust this crew to handle it and they did a MIGHTY fine job. (incident command delegation...works like a charm!)
Boobies indeed! I bet Paws was mighty thankful for the hot temps on the hill that day!
Thank you all so much...I luv Ya!
Great peeps and pics too! It was a wonderful event and I loved having folks here. It seems my odd-ball projects keep folks entertained and we all learned a lot about the woodlands and met some great neighbors.
Ginseng is doing great, found one morel, herbs and flowers are up and no one had a heart attack or heat stroke. I'm thankful!
Hope to have more shindigs like this so hope ya'll be able to head this way one of these days. Let us know when you might be able to make it and we'll just have to have another cook out!
Constantine and I put together a make-shift coop the next day and the chicks are doing fine...getting bigger every day! Can't think of a better gift to give someone. Thanks Faith and Mike!
Peep, peep, peep...took me awhile since I have frogs on my brain these days but woke up the night before with one of those rare moments of lucidity...ahhh, chickens! duh.
The new pup, Tala, is behaving himself and growing bigger everyday as well. I'll try to get a picture up here one of these days.
But, the big news is my first grand daughter came into this world last Friday! Veda Faith.
I'll need to get a couple pics up here as well. The big bummer is that they're in California and I ain't going to risk walking in to hold the baby with swine flu bugs.
My daughter-in-law did a mighty fine job...less than 2 hour labor, at home, in the bath tub! Mighty proud of my youngest son as well...he's proven to be a responsible young man and a great pa!
Well, gotta go. I've got farm critters now that need tending :-)
Luv ya and best wishes to all!
I miss being around here but work is sucking my life blood and I still have this crazy notion that I might be able get some of those publics to start getting their acts together.
I'm over on the Transition Ohio page a bit these days...http://www.transitionohio.ning.com It's about building community resiliency in light of all of the changes that are unfolding.
Hope to catch up here though and please know I'm sending my best wishes.
