I just had to pass this on and hope it don't affind anyone but thought You all would like to know.
Dear Mr. Steed:
Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding President Obama's nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to serve as Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Judge Sotomayor has more federal judicial experience than any other Supreme Court nominee in the last 100 years. She has served on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She was confirmed for both of these judgeships with strong bipartisan Senate support.
Raised in the public housing projects of New York City, and supported by a single mother, Judge Sotomayor worked hard to become one of our country's most respected judges.
I appreciate your sharing your thoughts, and I will certainly keep your views in mind as the Senate examines Judge Sotomayor's nomination.
Thank you again for being in touch with me.
Sincerely,
Sherrod Brown
United States Senator
Mr. Brown,
This canned reply has nothing to do with the fact that this judge is not what the Supreme Court needs: Just her races comments alone disqualify her for it if nothing else. Had she said that in any other place but a Democrat run Government, she would have been drummed out of the proceedings? Tell me that had President George Bush would have nominated her, you would be supporting her?
As I said before, as a senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the Military: I am held to a very high slandered and I felt that if anything, Judge Sotomayor should be held to as high a standard as I am, if not higher do to her role she will be playing in the courts. Had I ever said anything as races as she did about a White man, about any minority, I would have been under UCMJ actions and most likely kicked out of the military. So how can you support her with such a background?
Her stand on the 2nd Amendment is also another reason that she should not be considered! After the Supreme Court said that the people of Washington D.C. have the right to defied themselves, she sends down a ruling that states have the right to take that right away from law abiding citizens. Going against the same court’s ruling that you are telling me she should be on.
Sir, I put a uniform on everyday to defend the rights of every American to do things that they can do because of the freedoms that have been won by the Blood, Sweat and Tears of the men and women who have put this uniform on before me.
As a Voting Resident of OHIO, I ask you sir to think about the members of our state and how our backgrounds differ from the stands that the Judge has. She does not represent the values of the Ohio Farmer, Factory worker, Preacher or homemaker. I ask you to remember us and our beliefs when it comes time to vote on Judge Sotomayor for the Supreme Court.
Again, I thank you for your time and I Pray that you will Vote on this for America and not for someone who has proved she will interpret the Constitution with her background and race influencing her ruling’s.
