It still is one amazing feat fighting off 17 Zeros and watching them leave because they ran out of ammo....Just a bit of good old Yankee flying ingenuity with that last flight maneuver saved most of the crew...The Japs were definitely outclassed and by adding 4 more machine guns, they didn't allow the Japs a plan of attack....

My First Sergeant at Bolling AFB was a waist gunner on one. Said he wrote " FUGEM" beside his gun port. When they got back FUGEM was erased and there was left a big hole in the fuselage! SMSgt Otis T. Jones may God bless you whereever you may be.

When were you at Bolling? I think it were March 17 1970 to around May 71.
