While I hunted the Seranova Ranch a week go, a friend told me about a 16 acre lake way in the back that the state stocked with largemouth bass about 8 yrs ago. Hardly anybody at all ever fishes the lake because it's a 4 mile hike back to it...except I have a key to the gate. I took a ride out there yesterday, I wasn't able to dislodge my dad from in front of the tv, so I was on my own. But in a couple hours, I caught 7 and kept the largest 4 for the skillet, each about 20" in length. It was mighty pretty and peaceful sitting on that bank. If I'd have had me a jon boat to slip in and get around a little, I know I could have filled the cooler quickly enough. I'll definitely be going back!

daddy got roused and decided he wanted to do some fishing finally. So I loaded him in the truck and we headed back out to Seranova.
Damned if when we get there, the state changed the gate combination. I called the regional water district's headquarters and complained, but as I was told... Some nitwit with a disability permit like mine allowing us to drive into the property, got his little KIA stuck on the sandy road. Therefore the area was closed to vehicular traffic until a maintenance crew could be directed to the area and determine if the roads were passable or not.
Gimme a forkin' break!!!!
So, we doubled back and went to Sonny's BBQ restaurant in Bushnell, Fl and tore up the smoked chicke and baked beans, lolol.
The promised to e-mail me once the roads are determined to be passable so that we can go in and fish there again.

I did that with a Dodge Caravan down in Tennessee at the Red River. Man I was sure that thing was a gonner. Took bull dozer to the front of it lifted it up and walked it out over 3 miles back to solid ground. My butt pucker sucked up vinyl and popped the buttons off the seat.

Thing is though, I'd just been over that ground a few days ago and there were some sandy stretches, but none I had to put it in 4wd for. Drove all the way out there for nuttin'...
