Geez Phil! You musta been mighty mad at me. Looks like you huffed and puffed and blew my house down. That's alright we'll rebuild. Kinda like them little spiders that keep building cobwebs. You can tear them and their webs down all you want. They just keep rebuilding. (Hmm...I think that was one of the examples set in the sermon the night I accepted Christ.) Anyways, everything is going well here now that I drew that line at the end of the driveway and started screening and blocking phone calls.

One of the guys on the boat has internet access and is keeping Mike filled in on all the projects that will most likely be half-assed half-done when he gets home. I told him what all must be done when he gets home and what all I'm working on now. He's given his blessing to proceed as planned. (What choice does he have?) God must have a special place in heaven for men like him!

Spring has sprung and this place is looking real nice. Was looking over the place as we pulled in the driveway last night and realized that we've nearly met all our goals. Wasn't too awful long ago that we'd have driven past a place like this and thought they must be pretty well off to have a place like that. Sure we still have days when we think it's a mess or get to thinking about what all else should or could be done. But man, oh man!! Have we come a LONG way in the past few years! Phil, you is gonna have to come over and check it out sometime! Hoping to find a nice reliable riding mower in the next week or so. Neither Mike or I are really able to do all the push mowing anymore - especially once it gets hot this summer. Seems all I'm finding so far is under 14hp, ones that have been converted to pulling tractors, or are out of our price range. Would like to find something 20hp+ because of how much we have to mow here and the work I'd ask of it. If'n I have to, I'll throw in a 500# steer with the cash to get a good one. I'm sure somebody can use the meat if they're willing to feed him for a few more months. But I'm not getting too anxious to part with the steer yet. God always seems to takes care of us...right on time...with just what we need...if we are patient and faithful in Him.

Mike leaves tomorrow and the grass is about ready to mow again. Called a local Craigs List ad. That mower was sold, but he had several others. Went to go see. He had five ready and a couple that he wouldn't let go until he got all the bugs worked out of them. He had a real nice running 17hp Murray with a 48-inch cut that I got him down to $280 on (almost half what we'd managed to save up - not counting the steer). Date code says it's an '04. Mike took it out through the hay field to test it and it never cut out, bogged down or smoked a bit. Looks real good too...except it ain't got a hood. Pretty sure I saw one at the junk yard last night. But even if it isn't the right hood, I'll just run it commando and call it my "mow-cart". Hoods are just cosmetic (and keep chickens from pooping on the block) and usually end up busted. Guy is holding it on a handshake until Friday (payday) and will bring it to me after he gets home from work. Offered him a down payment. But he said my word and handshake are good enough. He was the mechanic at the Husqvarna dealer when I won the push mower a couple years ago. He's seen me come in for blades and saw chains the past few years when I was going down fast with heat stroked trying to keep up with this place, and wouldn't let me leave until I was jacked up on electrolytes and air conditioning. Said I shouldn't have to worry about that with this mower. And if I have any problems with it to give him a call and he'll come fix it for me. Thank you, Lord!

DAMMIT! You guys ain't no help at all! LOL Coulda had myself a load of FREE cattle last night and lined my pockets long enough to hire someone to get fences built and a new big barn started. Gal that has them is someone I went to school with and was desperate to get rid of them. Honestly, I cannot picture this gal living in the country or having more than a cat for "animals". She just needed someone to come who could get them on their truck or trailer. Her hubby got them all as calves, but they don't have fences or barns (sounds familiar) and just turned them loose on their 30 acres once they were too big for the little dog kennel pens. Now they're roaming all over the neighborhood. Don't know why I didn't think of it last night, but when Mike called in a little bit ago, he said to call his old man. He's only 35 miles away from where the cows are. DUH! He'd have just LOVED me for calling him at 2 a.m.!!
