My daughter got her first firearm awhile back from Wal-Mart. A youth model combo .22LR and .410. While at the range we had problems sighting the scope in as the trigger pull was heavy causing the gun to be "pulled" up as the trigger was pulled thereby pulling the shot up from center. I could somewhat hold the gun to stop it but my daughter could not as it took too much of her finger strength to actualy trip the trigger. I took it to a local gunsmith to have the trigger adjusted so it wouldn't require so much pressure to trip it. He found the sear had a 10 degree bend in it. Evidently from sloppy assembly. He straightened it back out and did some polishing and now it's the smoothest trigger action on any gun that even I have. She sighted it in at 50 yards and it stays within a one inch circle all the way to 100 yards. I was really impressed with the gun at that point. I quipped with the gunsmith that the gun was the perfect poaching gun as it was very small, with the butte on my truck seat the muzzle is still several inches from hitting the roof of the cab, so it can be readily fired from a vehicle. ;D Anyway I called Rossi and let them know of the problem and asked if they did custom chamberings as I'd like one of those in a 6.5 Carcano. They don't.

Are these like the NEF/H&R guns?
I've got a NEF/H&R "Handi-rifle" which is very similar to the gun you're describing. It's very compact and shoots great.

They are close but still a little different. The Rossi comes equipped with a lockable hammer safety that requires a key to unlock. Guess who has the keys? I have the NEF "Survivor" that fires the .45 long Colt and the .410 shotgun shell from the same barrel. The Rossi is by far better even though you have to change barrels.

There may be a new gun in my near future! ;D A local gunsmith is getting 12 "new" Springfield M1 Garands in a couple of weeks. He bought them from a "ritsy" military school were they have been in storage since being made, still in cosmolean. The only rounds fired out of them was the 4 test rounds at the factory.$700. each. ;D

The M1 didn't happen. The daughter is getting another Rossi though. I ordered it today and it should be here Friday. Another combo gun. This one is a 20 ga. with a .243 rifle barrel. It's a youth model and 37" overall length.

Lesson learned. Little cartridge and bullet equals BIG noise! Forget the bullet, the bang should knock a deer off it's feet!
