Well, I'm getting close anyway...I found I had to shim the scope to bring it in line with my whisker busquit...then I had to re nock some of my target arrows...the old ones just wouldnt hold onto the string at draw.....anyway the best thing was I got to mow some of my lawn....yeah .....in line with my targets..HE-HE-HE...tomorrows another day...at least I hit the targets this time............. ;D

Jay...I really think that its what the eyes percieve...I had trouble with pin sites and now I'm trying something else...I met this guy at the hunting store where I got my bow, and he had an actual scope mounted....it seems the guy couldnt miss the store settup targets....I would have tried that system, but it was too costly for me at this time.....todays another day.......

Steve, I still like the concept of the scope, so keep practicing and get good so I have yet another piece of equipment to ponder. ;D

I forgot to put this down in my previous post....along with the red dot, I'm more comfortable, the way the scope incompass's the target....the target acquisition is alot quicker for me, then its a matter of how hold the bow steady....and that brings me to how to hold, and fire a rifle.....now its in my breathing I guess.......

That was one thing I was wondering about, target aquisition. What power is the scope (I am assuming it's a 4X). Have you shot at different times of the day, in "power hour" for instance, to check light gathering capabilities? Dang it, your're gonna make me go and get one. Of course, I'll have to get a new bow then, too. ;D

LOL, the day I did shoot my bow, was about 4-4:30 P.M EST and I did see the target pretty well....the light did increase. I know this because my targets are hung form a piece of 6'X8' stockade fencing, that I've secluded under a group of trees at the edge of my property...so it gets a little darker at that time, because its in the northwest corner, and the sun has dropped behind the surrounding trees....Now I do know, if you want to take a chance....go to Amazon.com and put the words bow sites in their search engine.....You'll find that they have a BSA red dot scope with a bow mount for 39.95......It may be cheap enough for you to acquire just to get an idea of whats going on...I do know I've looked at some good ones which go for about 200 .....Now as far as power....I'll have to locat my original paper work...I dont actually feel any myself.....

Its getting better, I'm still getting some wide groups, but I'm practically in a good kill area....however I'm only shooting 15-20 yds....which is really a good distance to practice in this area since its deeply wooded where I hunt.....I wouldnt feel secureand profficient enough to hunt a field.....

It'll come Steve. As you get used to the bow set up and your strength increases. My crossbows are nice like that but it still takes alot of practice. As soon as these 102 temps break I'm going to get practicing.

I have two friends that had a scope sight on their bows. One had a pistol type scope with cross hairs, the other a red dot. I think the magnification was 1X or 1.5X. Form was extremely crucial since there was no rear point of reference.

I agree with that Harleyhunter...its all a matter of hold and site picture...its all one point....I was trying to see if my peep would line up, and it seems to be a no-go....

Steve, is your peep sight moving at all? I'd mark the string and check. Also are you shooting with fingers or a release? Your hold on the arrow must be consistent as well. I agree about the hold on the bow. When I draw I actualy "release" the bow and do not grip it. The bow only rests on my palm, my fingers do not contact the bow.

MARS...the peep is solidly in place, but rotates into position as I draw and I use a release....the one thing I havent been able to get comfortable with is too release the bow on draw....I'll get there though....I HOPE!!

It'll come to you. You may want to practice a couple of times just on your "grip", stance and draw. Don't even aim at a target but only focus on everything else. As an example, I shoot a right handed recurve with my left hand. I shoot off a rest but do not use a release or any sights. I carry my arrows on a hip quiver. No stabilizers, nothing. I've hit rabbits running, doves in flight, squirrels, raccoons, foxes and deer. The only reasons I can do this is time, practice and experience. In other words I've been doing it this way, unchanged, for 29 years.

You know, a little more than ayear ago, when I first picked up a bow ever......I had an old recurve...I shot that dang thing at a range for a bit, and I was on target more than this compound bow.....I guess with the new one, theres alot more to concentrate about, the old way was to aim, shoot, and hope learn that the trajectory you chose will hit the target.....plus I did that without a release.....

Nothing wrong with shootin fingers, Steve. One advantage is that you will never forget your fingers at home or in the truck.
