N0ow Steve, you know why your wrists hurt. But the bow could agravate it too. Have you considered putting a kisser button on your string?? Could be something as simple as a piece of tape for trial. Set it to come to ouch your lip at full draw and then shoot from there. See if your consistancy improves. You may not be hitting any better on target but the group may close up. Then adjust your scope from there. Just an Idea....

Looks like they're having a ball with that box. ;D Every once in awhile just to keep my cats on their toes I put some tape on them. Help get to dancing. I guess you do'nt need to worry about a paper shredder....

If you were able to get your hands on some real catnip, then you'll see a show...the catnip is really good for them once in awhile as it keeps their skills sharpe....

How's your shooting coming Steve? I have yet to get my crossbow out. Too dang hot. I got some new bolts this year, they're carbon, so I hope to see an improvement. If not no big deal, no extra cost to have carbon.

Okay, dokey...I feel a bit more confident today....found some things to do with the bow...I had to do some more work on adjusting my site, plus I had to put in a shim to get it furthur in line with my arrow , plus, I've been shooting now with an open hand on the grip, and definitly I find it alot more comfortable, and it helps while I hold longer....it stops the fatigue, and moving around...so thanks, I think now that I'm consistantly around the black.....I'll say within 15-20 inches, with more practise, I can be alot better....never had that cluster of arrows before....usually I've been all over the target and backstop I built....

Steve, don't think about missing. If you think you will miss then you will. Decrease the size of your target and start thinking "small". If your shooting at an 8" target circle then put a 1" circle on that and concentrate on hitting that 1". I use the knock from my previous arrow as my target unless it went clean through the backstop. When you aim at a deer don't aim "at" the deer. Pick a hair to aim at. If you aim at the deer then a 1-2" error will miss the deer. If you aim at the deers chest then the same amount of error will still miss the deer or wound it. If you aim at the lungs the same error will kill but may be a long search for the deer. Aim for that one hair that stands out and the same error will result in a good clean, fast kill. All deer that I have seen have a different hair or a small clump of hairs that stand out someway in the kill zone, focus and aim at that point.

Good stuff, Mars! I've done that for years, always pick a hair. I tell people that and they look like I'm nutso. But it works, and now is just second nature.

Now that I think about that "PICK A SPOT", I remember what my old pitching coach used to say....he would tell us not worry about where the arm goes or how your body is, but that you should pick a spot and focus on it.....with that in mind, when you go thru your pitching motion, your arm will generally follow the path that your eyes are focused on......also while driving your car, you dont concentrate on the nose of the car, you let your eyes follow the course of the road ahead, and your arms will move the steering wheel as needed....its a natural phenomina.............

I have to agree with you Mars about picking one hair and shooting that. I try to avoid putting too many arrows into the same target. With the crossbow, it sometimes leaves you with broken knocks and bolts. Sure, you impress yourself with the "robin hood" ;D but then you gotta get at least one new arrow The target I have is a bag target and has 4 targets on one side. Also be careful about using hay bales for a back stop.

Brian, I think we have the same bag target....mine had a total of 5 on the face, but whats with hay barrels as long as you have a back stop behind it so you dont get a pass thru???

Well I finally did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally found my niche...(I HOPE I FIND IT AGIN NEXT TIME )...my last 12 arrows today were all in a cluster in and around the black, from the center of the black out only about three inches out.....so I got a real boost of confidence.....I found the right spot for my chin, the right spot (dont need a kisser)for my peep aligned with the red dot.....I'm using that open hand grip on the bow just like what was suggested, without any problems.......I'm also feeling stronger, so I may adjust my pull up from 45lbs to 50lbs for now......WWOOOOOOOOOO....... ;D ;D ;D ;D thanks Y"all..............

Allright Steve!! Sounds like you have it whooped. The hay bales gave me trouble because the crossbow would give me pass throughs and then I would have to carefully pull the hay bale back so not to bend the arrow and pull the arrow from the backstop. Kathy was telling me today that I had pass throughs on the bag too. But that was with broadheads. I am glad you found the spot. ;D

Now there's the confidence that gets deer in the freezer! Now go shoot at animals. Some varmit should be open around you. Go hunting. Most fun I ever had was late season squirrel hunting with the bow.

You know Steve, when the boys were still here we used to go bow golfing in the woods behind the house(80 acres). We went out along the trail we had back there and put some styrofoam cups out for targets. Then as we walked we would stalk, set-up and shoot the cups. It's easier than one would think to concentrate on a target like a cup. What was good about it was that we would then get practice judgung distance and setting up for the shot. The reward was taking and making the shot. Besides it was good exercise. ;D
