Meghan and I went to the CrabTree Mine in N.C. today. It's sweaty, dirty work but fun. Of course the first rock Meghan washes off has several nice green beryl (emeralds)crystals on it. Dang smart alek!
We don't find anything other then garnets and black tourmaline for 3 hours. Meghan starts complaining she's hungry and wants to leave but I told her we weren't leaving until I find a golden beryl(yellow emerald or heliobor). 30 minutes later I bust open a softball size feldspar rock and there it is, a nice yellow beryl. Washing it revealed several smaller beryls.
I go get the truck to load up our equipment and a mica boulder I want for my yard and Meghan has everything at the road when I get there and THROWS it in the truck. I believe she was a LITTLE HUNGRY.LOL!
We had down to the mine office to let them know we are leaving and to confirm the beryl finds then it was off to Burger King. She polished off a chicken sandwich, large onion ring with sauce, 6 chicken fries and 2 large drinks.

Hey, if you happen to run into my darling wife there (and you just might), maybe we can work something out?

She vacations there and the outer banks. She and her "friend" Susan Burns usually accompany one another. To tell the truth I believe that Susan Burns instegates/influences probably 90 percent of the decisions my darling makes.

Meghan and the team return tomorrow. Meghan shot a 499 and 513 out of 600. Her worst scores in a while. I don't know the team standings yet. I finaly have a job! I don't have a start date yet but I start safety training tomorrow or Thursday depending on their schedule vs. mine. I do know it is a temp job but it may end up as a permanent job but no promises and it's 3rd shift.

Vacation over. She goes to leadership training this weekend. Personaly, I'll be glad to get rid of her for a few days so I get a vacation from driving her all over the county. I really need to get her a learners permit and get her driving.
As far as I know I don't have to work this weekend so I may take off and hit the river for a night of camping and fishing.

Things got a little interesting at the new job. At the shift change a few "words" were exchanged between the operators and tools went across the floor including a handheld soldering torch. 5 minutes later I was "informed" I would be going to 1st shift the next day as the 3rd shift operator was going to his actual job and would not be able to finish the training.
I called the agency that I'm working for to quit but I let them talk me into staying. Considering my job involves use of lots of cyanide and acid the thought of tools being thrown around let alone a torch is a little disturbing.
Anyway, I went on 1st today. The 3rd shift operator met me at the door and apologised but the 1st shift guy complained for an hour. I just ignored him and I'll assume that is why he quit complaining.
Oh well. It's a job that pays well for a temp job and has a time limit that I can work there for and they are eating those hours up fast.

At least you are off the streets and keping out of trouble. Now about that cyanide...

Potassium cyanide, copper cyanide, sulphuric acid, solderon acid, hydrocloric acid, lions and tigers and bears. Oh my!
One little "oopps" and we have hydrogen cyanide and that has happened once from a machine malfunction since I've been there. Not anywhere near a danger amount as the alarms didn't even come close to going off.
The job is overseen by the homeland security agency.

Just for shits and giggles you ought to put you out a little rug, face Meca and offer head bobbing prayers around lunch time.

That might be funny except it occurs every day.Yep and not as a joke!
Training is over and I start on 3rd shift again this Sunday night on my own. ;D
The job is not that bad. Just hot and complicated. I'll be electroplating coils of zinc.

55 hours at the job last week. I'm enjoying the 3 day weekend!
I'm working on putting a "roof" in front of the redone barn. So far I have the six 4x4 posts in and the 2x6's across the tops. No stringers yet. It will be 24' x 12' when I'm done if I don't add more to it.
