You guys got "heat tape" on your lines? It is a pain to maintain but better than frozen/busted pipes.

I honestly feel for you folks in the South. Mrs snakes son called from S.Carolina where they got 4/5" of snow and all but closed down the whole county. No school, can't get to work etc, etc. Up here that is just a bit of an inconvenience. When we get a snow warning, which we usually get a two day window on,sometimes more than that. Then we prepare for it.Fill the gas tank, the refrigerator and cupboards. Then stand by to see what will or will not happen. Or at least that is what I do.

Geting blasted now. Supposed to get around 8 to 10 inches accumulation over the next three days. They didn't even bother to open the schools this morning knowing what was coming. It started about noonish.

The schools here have not been open since the first week in December. A month and a week of the kids being home. More snow last night. Makes for " not so good" driving on these "hills". I had to replace the well pump. It froze and the motor burned out. Took me 2 days to figure out the settings. Man I'm so ready for a hot shower!!! I've been bathing with hot creek water from a pot in the shower. My CPVC pipes don't burst when frozen. By next winter I'll have this house replumbed with the water lines running inside the house. Everybodies lines around here are frozen.Local plumbing is not cold winter "friendly". Snow is global warming fallout. Kinda like fallout from a nuke that makes everything colder.

More snow today. Didn't anybody tell the weather that it's March in east tn? I bought 30 2x4's friday and another 45 today along with 24 2x6's. Thats enough 2x6 to finish the base framing and a start on the sub flooring with the 2x4s. The 2x4s are treated 8' that are .50c cheaper then untreated so getting what I really needed saved me about $40. so far. It's going to take alot more though to cover the 24'x24' roof/floor. I can stockpile them until we get decent outside working weather. Taxes are done and the refund is going to be used to put in a new floor in the wifes bathroom before she falls through.

Mars, you need to get those up off the ground/concrete and "cross stack" them so they get plenty of air between/among them. TN is terrible with the humidity and the fungi and it will work on the best of kiln dried and treated materials. You figuriing on using a termite shield under your subfloor and bottom plates? Brother don't worry about your weight as long as your BMI is good. I'd rather be 300 lbs of muscle than 200 of blubber.

The 2x4s are on the wood floor of the barn but the 12' 2x6s are out in the yard. I was planning to put tar paper over the 2x4s then the plywood. I don't know at this time what I'll be putting over the plywood since it will be a roof for awhile. Everything will be painted with dark green barn paint. Our termites are the ground type so the structure being 9' off the ground is a deterent to them but not the carpenter bees or carpenter ants.

I came home and big brave Meghan said she wasn't mowing the grass anymore today. She showed me a picture of an 8' black snake she ran across mowing the yard today. LOL!!!!

Aw heck! Big ol' black snake is pretty much harmless. Tell her there's a crazy woman up in Ohio that says unless she's mowing over multiple copperheads and rattlers in a single mowing to get back out there and mow. The tall grass will only attract more snakes and they might not be as nice to come by as that black snake.

Last time I cut grass, must be near a month now, I glimpsed one of those Catalpa (snake or Bean Tree) seed hulls. Ran over it and it near killed my mower. It wasn't a seed hull! The Pittweiller ate it that evening.

Cool! ;D I've got their seafood linguini Alfredo and Cheddar bay biscuits mastered. I hope to pass with a plate of that in front of me half eaten! Hope you had a nice time.
