In 17 1/2 hours I will be retired. No more running with lights and sirens riding around in the big truck. No more med assists. No more sleeping in a room with six or seven other guys.

I am retired! Last night a little after midnight my girlfriend showed up at the station in a limo. I was quite surprised. My two boys were with her as well as my little brother and his family. And, like she planned, she and I danced before leaving. (I had to wear my dress uniform by the way) We danced on the pad behind the station. Fun. Then we all got into the limo and rode around town for a while. What a great night!

We are having as our guest speaker at Kiwanis this afternoon, a Mrs. Childers. She was a young girl in Belgium during the war and she helped hide our servicemen from the Nazis until they could safely get away. Ought to be interesting.

My oldest son got his permit today. So I let him drive around the church parking lot for a while. He did pretty good for his first time.

Can't beat a Church parking lot if you are planning on doing alot of praying in a vehicle! ;D I take my daughter up the creek and let her drive the 2 miles of gravel road. For some reason she thinks she will win playing chicken with the trees along the road and she does excellent with the potholes, she hasn't missed one yet!

He has to have at least 50 hours of daytime driving and 10 hours of night time driving. Can't wait to hear how your daughter does driving the creekbed at night.

He's got it easy. Here you have to have a learners permit atleast 6 months prior to taking the tests. My daughter does not have a permit yet but will when I get the nerve to spend half the day at the BMV. She can get a license here at 14 since her mother cannot drive and I'm the only other licensed driver in the household. I don't know about your BMV but it took me 4 hours just to get her an ID card.

Shoot Billie Jo had to take the permit test 3 times before she passed. Then the roads were classified as TRAVEL AT YOUR "OWN" RISK. Then after passing her driving test, and then her first time driving by her self, she backs into a gas pump, after that I went half bald and almost totally Grey.

You have to have a permit six months here too. Then you test for an intermediate license and then after that time period you test for the real McCoy. A whole different from when we were kids

School started today. Fortunately both of my kids now ride the bus to and from school. What a relief that is

The local NWTF chapter I belong to as a founding member is having our annual Banquet and Auction tonight. If we can make "Golden Gobbler" this will be our 10th straight year to do so.

I don't know yet how we did on finacial numbers but we had a decent crowd. The few items I was hoping to get on the live auction went higher than I could afford. But I did get one item on the silent auction my girlfriend had bid on. She was out of the room when they were about to close the silent auction so I went over and made a bid on the necklace she liked. I got it. And then I gave it to her. She was very happy.

I got back from Texas earlier today. I flew down there Tuesday afternoon then drove back with a U-Haul last night. I was hauling some stuff from my brother's house back to here.

You did not miss anything. My brother is moving to Florida and had some things he wanted to get rid of. So, I went down and got it. Apparently they want to buy some new things for their new house.
