When I was over there they either dried or smoked everything! I think I had one fish that wasn't cooked on the grill lr dried in the sun. It was a "Milk Fish" that was boiled in vinegar and spices. (Damn good too!)

No turkey for ET. A storm blew in here last night and pretty much shot our chances for awhile. Rain, wind and possible snow tonight equals little chance of success unless pure luck kicks in. The tally is turkeys 3, hunters 0. I hope he had a good time despite the lack of success and has a few stories to tell.

yeah, but it still sucks though. Here you were worried about fires and Mother nature done pulled a 360 on ya and still ruined your hunt.
That happens to me and my friends every so often with our fishin trip to the U.P. You set a week, take vacation, maker reservations at the fish camp. Then when you get there its so cold and windy you cant get on the water to fish. Alot of drinking & gambling goes on when the week turns out like that. What else are ya gonna do up in the middle of a Chipawa Indian Reservation?

Well, I stand corrected!
I guess i read wrong. Didnt think you even had a chance to go out.
I agree, anytime you get outdoors and enjoy all that wildlife, the killing is only secondary.

Well Mars I made it home in just under nine hours. When I got about ten miles into Indiana, I saw a big flock of turkeys out in the field right off the road, and there were two huge toms strutting around.

It looks like we will finaly have some decent turkey hunting weather again so the daughter and I will be hitting the woods saturday morning. It'll be the first time we have been out since we went with ET. It's done nothing but pour rain, snow or 30 mph winds since the first week of the season.

I will be in Michigan opening day, Nov. 15th again this year. I put in my vacation for the 15th through the 20th. I'll be bringing my oldest daughter this year.

Youth season is the 22nd and 23rd. Daughters done called dibs on the big tom out back. He's been out back every day for the last 2 weeks with his 8 hens. We snuck up the creek this morning and I called in a decent tom and about 30 hens to about 10 yards before they flew off a little then walked off. It's illegal in Tn. to make turkey sounds in the woods until the season opened so that's why we snuck. ;D

The 8 hens out back had a surprise this afternoon. Instead of the big tom they had 4 jakes in tow.
