More rain and snow predicted here. Supposed to get up to three inches with more to come this week-end. Temperature has dropped a bunch so I'll probably be ordering propane earlier than I had hoped.

Get with the program! ;D Wear an extra pair or two of long handles, dig out those wool socks and mittens, turn the thermostat down, and cuddle up with the furry ones so you don't have to call for propane so often. Had the Wx radio on this morning and NOAA is calling for rain>sleet>snow>ICE>snow for here from tomorrow morning through Sunday afternoon.

Already did all of that. I usually go bare belly, including outside, but have been wearing a lined plaid shirt for a couple of weeks now. The animals are cold. I keep the thermostat at 55 during the day and 50 at night. I wasn't wanting to fill the tank in case I have to leave here, as if I could fill it up anyway!

Well the weather man kept most of his promise. Broke loose about 0930 and snowed like all hell for an hour or so droppin an inch or etter. Then it quit and most of it is gone now. Supposed to get more tonight. Keep your fingers crossed for us. The knee is not improving. I can take 38 steps before it swells and pains. I've spent most of the day with it on the back of the futon or straight up in the air. That relieves it until I take 38 more steps. The Tiger balm really works well but for only; 38 more steps!

Knee has improved but I'm not pushing it. I noticed after the swelling dropped off that the patella was sliding a bit out of place. I must hav wrenched it; probably kicking cats in bed. The weather turned nasty again with ice, snow and a lot of wind. Woke up at 0500 to a temperature of 43 and rain but now it is 30 degrees and snowing and blowing. If I don't get out of here in the next couple of days I'm going to go nuts.

Knee is better this morning. It popped and cracked and hurt like hell last night getting ready for bed but that relieved some of the pain and pressure. We have 23 degrees and clouds this morning with just a bit more than a dust of snow on the ground. With a little luck and fair weather I'll finish up my Christmas shopping today. Sure is easier with no spouse to buy for.

WooHoo! The knee lasted almost a half day before paining me worse than child birth, a toothache, or listening to a sermon! Got my heart broke again today. Fallin' n love with a cutie down at CVS on State Street. Noticed a big bright wedding band this afternoon while I was in there. Dang it! I tell you though she is one super lady in appearance, attitude, manners, and friendliness. She got the kind of nice insides that just shine through outside. If the feller she done married up with is listening I'll trade you a whole passle of cats for her! Then I went to Krogers and visited with one of the cashiers I been joking with for five years or more. Told her to be real nice to me cause I was kind of down on women right now. She said she was down on men right now too and I noticed her wedding band is gone. So I told her that if my ex should come to stay way back cause she just might have a bomb in her purse which I put in there. She said; "I got something right here in my pocket I'd like to try out on a man too!" So I asked her if she got it in a drug store and everybody rolled on the floor while she stood there blinking her eyes.

LOL! Yep I think that is what she was inferring but I just couldn't resist a natural "straight lady/man". She is awfully nice though. She has been there I think she said 19 years and is still a part time employee. Well I bought myself a brace for the knee and it did allow me to finish off the day with a somewhat functional leg. I can bend it and get in and out of chairs easier but walking is still a bit "Chester Good". The swelling was somewhat reduced and the pain lesser when I got ready for bed and removed it. I still woke up several times needing to adjust the leg due to pain. This morning it is improved over last night with no swelling and the pain feels like a dull ache kind of like a bruise. OH, oh I plumb forgot! When I ws heading for the door at Krogers I turned around and hollerd back at Cheryl that just because it is Christmas it was no excuse for; Ho Ho Hoin!

Well I left the brace on all day and slept with it. Woke up yesterday morning and it was great. Made it through the entire day without much discomfort until way late in the evening. Then spent a night in hell. Tossed and turned and hurt all night long but left the brace on through this morning. About to give up and then checked out "Anatomy of the knee" and knee pain/onjury on the Google. Learned a bunch and discovered that the treatment I was using is what is recommended short of surgery and/or steroid injections. Then I recapped my process and discovered that after putting on the brace that I decided to "loosen" it after showering yesterday. Soooo I took my shower today and put it back on and winched it down as tight as I could get it and guess what?? You guessed it, pain and pressure are totally gone. I was even able to do my walk around. Near as I can figure recovery is about two months following a rigid regimen of ice packs, elevation, knee brace, and continual therapy. I can do isometrics and stretching for the muscles, walking with the brace in place, light massages on the affected ligament (MCL). I figure the craving for fat and protein is my body telling me it needs building materials to repair the tear. Some good news: My fat cat Sammy the diabetic has dropped four pounds now. If I can get him down about three more or so he can probably come off the insulin. Most of the cats have improved in health, weight, and appearance since altering their diets. I'm really pleased with the results. Also I have got the formula down for "de-stinking" the place. While total removal of odors will require carpet, subfloor, and some wall replacement, the major cause "cat liter boxes" has a new formula. I found that using the Arm and Hammer Multi-cat litter plus Arm and Hammer litter deodorizer is the secret to success. I can not believe the difference. Somehow the deodorizer keeps the cat litter from sticking to the pan too and speeds litter box cleaning up to where it takes less than half as long as it was taking. So this week has been an all around success for me!

Knee is good this AM. Looks maybe like we get a warm day today. If the knee stays stable I might get my Christmas shopping wrapped up today. Maybe get some chores done I been putting off while sitting on my ass with my leg in the air.

Man, what a Christmas! This is the first Christmas in many that I actually felt like it was Christmas. The morning started off "hazy" with me talking to Uncle Jim and exchanging holiday greetings while I was staring at the phone base plugged into the wall and busily looking for the phone which (of course) was in my hand! Then after shots and meds for all the diabetics we passed out gifts and treats to the cats and dogs. You know, I could feel the gratitude from all of them. They have a genuine sense of appreciation that has not been in this house for an awfully long time. Off to Kenny's to exchange gifts and hopefully grab a hot breakfast along the way! Nope! Ghost town After dragging Dave and Caroline out of bed (Ken's In-Laws) we managed to roust him out of his apartment and drink a pot of coffee and have some of Joann's cheese cake which she does very well. My booty included a nice shaving lotion set, a hilarious cookie jar, and a terrific table top griller powered by a Sterno pack mounted on a heavy ceramic base. After watching Kenny Junior make the adults look silly attempting to capture a chocolate prize from Kenny's "Claw" machine I headed to Glouster for more visitation with cousin Linda, Cousin Betty, Cousin Shawn, Cousin Melissa Cousin Reid, and Cousin Avery. They fed me like a fattening pig and gifted me with more food, a terrific comforter/throw, and a beautiful wind chime which is already in the maple tree in the front yard. What a great visit. Gooood Christmas!! Then I come here on the site and see some of the things you folk here have posted today; Wow! Thank you Father for these wonderful people; You done real good!

For the first time since I injured this knee I don't feel scared to death that it isn't going to heal. It felt nearly normal getting out of bed this morning and I got the brace on right away. I been putzing around now for three hours fixing breakfast, starting laundry and such and it is doing OK. With my right hand straight up when this thing is well I'm going back to the gym and getting involved in either a Judo or Tai Quando program. Should have never quit in the first place.

spent several dis-enchanted evenings last week trying to find just the right gifts for the grand childern..then on Sat, Girly Girl took me shopping...man I'm I glad I ran in to that girl sometime back...within an hour she had me feeling like it was really Christmas..so I got the stuff for them she also got them a bunch of stuff...I spent the entire evening Christmas Eve with them setting on the floor playing...wouldn't trade one second of that time for all the money or gifts in the world...these days there is not much joy in the world..but those few hours with those kids made all the everyday strife and worries vanish...then it was good ol'fashoined Oat Meal for a bed time snack..and off to bed one and all, with, as the poem goes, visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads...Santa you granted my one and only selfish wish...thank you...

Well I finally made a decision. I'm tearing down the camper. Told Jimmie to scrap it for what he could get salvage all but the bed and tanks. I'm going to weld up the smoker, grill, S/Steel sink and a bird cage on her and turn her into a travelin' BBQ platform with storage for the cast iron and camping gear. That assumes I can lighten it considerably and get a layout that suits me. If not; it gets sold outright as well. Glad your Christmas turned out well there TT. Awfully easy to get into the "bah humbugs" isn't it. Old Girly Girl would make you a good mate if you would pop the question there bubba!

Well, that's not the first time I have heard that...in fact, the younger Grand Daughter, Nadia, (who is 3 1/2 yrs old) asked me if Miss Wanda was going to be her Grandma...then later asked Girly Girl and I quote " When are you going to marry my Grandpa?" gotta love kids...BTW, it's not in our "immediate" plans...

Oh ya, a traveling BBQ, sounds like a winner...I have this old pop-up camper frame/trailer in my back yard that will someday be turned into such a thing...if I can find the right box for a smoker, and be able to afford all the other stuff that I need to build or buy that I want go on it...I can get the sinks and some of the stuff pretty cheap as I know a bunch of remodelers..looking for some stainless tables and a big three door frig/freezer combo to make into the smoker...just finding them is the problem...

You can buy a firebox custom made out of stainless or see if you can get your hands on a stainless beer keg or two. I'm using the Brinkman pitmaster steel horizontal grill and the same vertical smoker. Both are about twenty years old. The sink is a S/steel NSF approved which run a little over 700.00. Probably pick up a fuel oil tank for the water tank and put it over a propane burner. We got another camper that we are scavaging the best parts from each to put together one half decent one. The rest gets sold for scrap. We should end up turning my 200.00 into about a grand with a little luck. Maybe recover the cost of that sink! After this project I got to start tearing down my New Marshfield house and turning it into a trailer lot. Figure I can either rent it for a couple hundred for parking or live on it in a POS trailer for a while if I need to. At 200 a month rent the ROR is still better than eight percent so that isn't too terrible. Better than most annuities anyway.

The knee is at about fifty five or sixty percent today. I left the brace off for sleeping and it is the first night in more than two weeks that it didn't cause me fits. Swelling is gone, pain is minimal and only when I apply a lot of pressure to it. Stability is still a bit "iffy" but much improved. It occurred to me; "What happens if I really go down" ? Nobody around in a position to take care of these animals or for that matter even my worthless arse. Guess I better start making plans for the everntually inevitable!

Well, if your in your house I guess all those critters will be fed for awhile. Start putting the pounds back on and they might eat for a couple more days. ;D Just remember to leave a commode seat up so they have water. ;D
