Dream my butt; freakin' nightmare!
I got this in e-mail this morning and just could not resist straightening out the McCain campaign.

McCain Team -
Americans across the country are feeling the effects of high gas prices and our need to
expand domestic oil production.
John McCain says we need offshore oil drilling and we need it now. Senator Barack Obama
has consistently opposed offshore drilling - calling it a "gimmick." Senator
Obama's solution to high gas prices is telling Americans to make sure their tires are
inflated.
Today, I'm asking for your help in putting Senator Obama's "tire gauge" energy
policy to the test. With an immediate donation of $25 or more, we will send you an
"Obama Energ y Plan" tire pressure gauge. Will simply inflating your tires
reduce the financial burden of high gas prices on your wallet?
It's clear Senator Obama has no plan to address the energy challenges we face as a
nation. He has said no to offshore drilling, no to expanding domestic drilling and no to
nuclear energy. He has no plan to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
John McCain is prepared to lead our country as president to break our dependence on
foreign oil with real solutions. John McCain believes we should lift the federal ban on
offshore drilling, enabling you to decide where we drill for oil.
But John McCain won't be able to enact these policies without your help in electing him
as our next president.
Please help us put Senator Obama's energy plan to the test - donate $25 or more for your
very own "Obama Energy Plan" tire pressure gauge.
Thanks, as always, for your support.
Sincerely,
Rick Davis
Campaign Manager
P.S. Our next president's energy policy will need to reduce our dependency on foreign
oil. John McCain believes we need offshore drilling now. Senator Obama's plan is calling
on Americans to check their tire pressure. We're asking for your help in testing out
Senator Obama's energy plan. With your donation of $25 or more right now, we'll send you
a tire gauge to test for yourself, Senator Obama's "tire gauge" energy policy.

Rick, yes I did check my tires. I also bought replacement wheels because mine were
out of round and could not be perfectly balanced. Then I switched my oil out for the
synthetic oil and guess what. My gas mileage has increased by eight miles per gallon or
twenty seven percent! By doing this I have reduced my gasoline consumption by that
percentage, reduced my bill at the pump by that percentage and in addition have reduced
my consumption of motor oil by
twenty quarts (5 gallons) of refined oil per year since a
petroleum based product is no longer being used. How many vehicles do we have out there?
I read something the other day that tells me we have in the neighborhood of three
quarters of a million vehicles in the federal sector alone. In the public sector we have
a hundred fifty million more. Yes my friend, every little bit helps and if all of us
would do our part the savings of a drop here and a drip there would mount up
significantly. Remember the "Victory gardens" and scrap metal drives of WWII?
Same story my friend. When this nation pulls together we can achieve anything. Our
problems are not caused by philisophical issues here. They are caused by division and
lack of leadership and direction. That will change only when you politicians start
focusing on the interests of the nation, the American citizen, the American family, and
quit playing games of "one upmanship" party against party, and bantering about
meaningless crap in our nations highest offices. You all look like a bunch of kids at
recess and there is no teacher on the playground. I'm ashamed of you all. I will vote
for Mr McCain; but not because I believe he is the better choice. You see I have met
much better folk who truly love this nation and wake up in the monring determined to do
the very best they can do for her. They truly understand Mr. Kennedy's words "Ask
not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country."
Congress needs to be reminded that these words apply to that elite body every day.

Now I did some quick figuring and lo andbehold that savings I experienced for the nation could result in a reduction of 900 million barrels of oil per year (900,000,000) which is nothing to sneeze at. And remember that is
refined barrels so I imagine the actual total in sweet light crude would increase by twenty or thirty percent accounting for loss during refinement.
I believe it is intuitively obvious to the most casual observer that our problems with oil are not that we do not lproduce enough rather that we use too damned much and it is ludricous to focus on greater production of a limited resource. Hell, even Venezuela understands that. They go nuclear, sell off their oil to others. Regardless of what we may think of their government that particular philosophy is beneficial to their nation and their people. meanwhile our leadership sits around twideling their thumbs and jacking each other off.
