Since Mike doesn't get on here unless I will type in his login info......
Santa, I hope I'm not stepping on your toes. But, I went ahead and got Mike's Christmas present for him. I know this is way too extravagant and way out of our means. But he has appointed me in charge of our little gang and said he trusts all my decisions. I figured since he works very hard out on the boat, has gone on several late night chicken pick-up trips to keep me happy, and has given up a lot to get us settled in our new place, he deserves something super special. So..... (shhh) What do you think about 46" LCD HDTV? His recliner is 15 feet away from our TV and I'm tired of having to stand close to our little 19" set to give him a play-by-play of what's going on in the football game. You don't have to leave him anything else except maybe some socks and underwear.

Hey Santa. Let's scratch the heifer off my list for this year. I found a gal not 40 miles away who has a fancy, and I mean FANCY, registered Jersey yearling heifer. Heifer's mom is at a nunnery in PA and milks 60 lb/day. That's almost 8 gallons! They're going to use a sexed semen service to breed her and I've spoken for her 2011 heifer calf IF I can get 1st dibs on who the calf's daddy is. They've agreed. That'll give me another year to get the barn built, paddock cleared, fence lines run, and find a portable milk pump. So instead of that heifer, lets just put some church clothes on the list that aren't stained with grease, paint, chicken poop, and grass.

The M&B Dairy over in Lecanto is holding Saturday morning calf auctions and are letting go of the heifers, same as the bulls. They figure on letting someone else take on the work and expense of raising replacement heifers for them and they expect to get off cheaper by buying them back after they come fresh.
Bidding starts at $20.00.... Sure you gotta have a jersey? Holstein's don't have the rich cream that a Jersey does, but she'll do better'n ten gallons if she's healthy each day! You can raise one hell of a lot of suckers on her and still have enough to drink and make butter'n cheese with.
Me Santa? I revised my list also. I still want good health and fortune for all my friends and family, but if you got room in your bag...I want a new .410 double-barrel, with the exposed hammers. I saw one today in a pawn shop and damned if I didn't fall in love. What a sweet little bunny gun!

Yep. Has GOT to be a Jersey. After a lifetime with them and 6 generations of registered Jerseys in my blood, there isn't any other breed. My problem in finding "just the one" is I'm too finicky. My minimun requirements are: She needs to be not only sound, but have proper conformation ('cause I might hit the showring circuits again), and have an outcrossed pedigree (preferrably with Danish or Jersey Isle bloodlines - American lines must be from my 'approved' inside circle). Has to be from TB accredited & Bang's vaccinated herd, be fully calfhood vaccinated, and test negative for Johnes, lepto, and leukosis. Cows also need eColi vaccinated.
Not too hard. Don't you think?

I have spent so much on postage and resume paper along with envelopes that it is unreal. I had an interview with the Prosecutor here in our county and she was to get back with me last week, but I know that she is so short-handed as she has a hung-jury murder trail that is to go the first of Jan. and another one plus where a father shot his 17 y/o in the head all coming about (did not kill her)...so she is very busy. I sent out two resumes this week for two positions with Childrens' Services in Athens County, but they claim to be EOE...bull crap!! They have them chosen from their staff and my age is against me. I do not care what they say!! I am leaving tomorrow providing my daughter sends me a Speedway gas card, which should be in the mail today. She mailed it last Saturday. One would think that I live in a foreign country....the USPS is terrible!! She lives in WV, I if I need to send her anything I mail it in WV and she gets it in a day or two. But, where she is not close to Ohio to mail hers. I am to the point of just giving up after trying and trying so many times and nothing. Thanks for your Prayers!

Sharon, just saw a couple of news programs (FOX NEWS) and there's one business that you may want to look into and that's debt collection....You don't need an education , but you sort of must have the gift of gab....It only pays about 12-15 dollars an hour, but there's a commission on each case you resolve....So that means money...In a meanwhile try to enjoy the holidays and have a Happy Thanksgiving...... ;D ;D ;D

Sharon, Course this is just an opinion on my part. If you are in need,do exactly what you think your daughter would do. Sell what you need to sell to live a comfortable retirement. You should do it and your daughter should give you her blessings. IMHO I am probably out of line and if I so I apologize! SNAKE-EYES

Snake, Dad's run a few SMALL batches through, just to say he's done it and I certainly know how. But, none of us I know of ever sold any of it. It's always been in the family. But, the way things are, a feller's got to make a buck any way he can and it's mighty tempting to pick up and do just that. Never happen though.... At this point in my life I've accumulated enough that I'm scared of getting caught, lol. Now, twenty years ago; I wouldn't have hesitated. I better go keep an eye on them young brothers of mine!

Snake, I have a Life Estate....I will never leave...this place has been in my family since 1860....I am not letting it go!! I may have to move to the cave behind the in a hollow behind the barn. Some of you may not understand, but this place means more to me than life!! I have always wanted to live here.
I tried having my daughter and her family live with me and it did not work out....Most houses are not made fir two families. I know first hand...been there and done that...never again.
My son-in-law has my laptop working good now,,,just needed a bunch if crap taken off that I wasn't taken off as it was put on by the manufacture.

eaglenest, you may want to look into donating your property to the State for a park. Atleast it would not be sold and developed or split up and you can have it named for your family. Many people in this area have done so.

The Life Estate is done and there is no way that my daughter will give this away...as I said before....it will be sold within 6 mos. after my death if not part or all of it. $$$'s mean more than heritage. But, she is highly influenced by her husband!! There is not easy answer to this. I am pretty much stuck.
