Christmas memories are often better than the gifts exchanged. Case in point, our last Christmas at Barnesville in 2005 before all heck broke loose on us. Santa decided little Mikey was getting to be too big of a boy to sit on his lap. So Santa and his helper sat on Mike's lap. Hmm Santa. Nowadays, Mike's belly and beard are looking a whole lot like yours!

;D You bet, Bruce. Nothing else matters! ;D Great photos Faith. Mike does look like he could take on that Santa job. You oughtta get him a santa suit to wear on the boat going up and down the river. That'd be cool for everyone on the riverside, lol.

Well after going back and forth on what I want for Christmas, last night finally decided it. How's about a 12x12 cubical, some rope, and a bottle of Jack. They're not for me. They're for a very special yearling heifer my brother has offered me. She eluded getting her pinkeye vaccination and got it in both eyes this summer. That left her blind in both eyes. She might be picking up on some shadows but that's about it. Right now, she's pretty skiddish 'cause she can't tell what's going on around her. The other cows crowd her out at the feed bunk and she needs to find a boyfriend in the next few weeks. Nothing a little one-on-one TLC can't handle. I know this heifers family very well. Her gr. granddam was my first 4-H cow. When brother offered her, I nearly slid all the way to his farm on my own drool. Now I just got to get some post holes dug for a make-shift winter shelter before the ground freezes solid. Wouldn't you know...where I want it to be is right in the path of where the waterline is marked to be run.

I almost had to force Mike to open his present tonight so he could get some enjoyment out of it before heading back to the boat. He was pleasantly suprised and is sitting out in the living room watching a life sized Tonight Show with the kids. It will take him forever to figure out that remote control. He thought it was either a deer feeder, a pair of tree stands, or a gun safe all this time. I even tried to convince him on a gun safe Santa might bring today at TSC.
I'm not going to be able to pick up my present until after Christmas. BIL is on midnight shift at the mine until around new years, so he'll be sleeping during the day. SIL has used up all her leave days for this year. Actually, it's kind of a blessing right now. I still have to get hay, feed, and a wind break set up. These hens better get to work. They're gonna be the ones paying to get everything ready for the heifer. And good news.....She's "passed over" Calf is on it's way in late July. ;D With this particular cow family, I'm 95% sure it will be a heifer calf. Can only recall 4 or 5 bull calves from the Edna family in the past 50 years.

Hey Santa, was just wondering if I can join your union? Seems like any holiday that rolls around always mean more work for me while the rest of the family gets to sit back and enjoy. Even the gifts I get mean I'll have more work.

Brian's well, but about to run out of his head with his daughter, boyfriend, and both gradbabies moving back in with him and Miss Kathy. Poor rascal's working too hard to suport them all! Faith, that's a mother's burden to bear ain't it? The whole family looks to you to make Christmas special. What you gotta do is learn to dole out the chores more evenly. As in; if they wanna eat, they gotta work, lol! I bet I'd work a full days worth for some of your cooking!

I wouldn't join that Elf Union!
You have to;
Be 4 foot tall or less. Height reductions are possible but rather an unpleasant process.
Weigh 80 lbs or less. Weight reduction programs are available but rather an unpleasant process.
Work hours(Union Rules) are 9am to 5..... am...
Breaks are every 30 minutes for cookies and milk( see weight restrictions above)
110% productivity a minimum with 150% prefered and 175% for any awards.
Work week is 6 days
Any Reindeer out rank you, any Reindeer droppings out rank you.
