Peg, thanks for taking the time to keep us informed on Bruce's progress. I can feel the pain you are going through in your messages. Each little inch is progress towards the mile. Remember that you're never alone. We are here for you. Remember to find time for yourself. More importantly, make sure to lighten up your load and lay it before the Lord. I'm sure you already have. Remember, if the Lord has brought you to it, the Lord will see you through it. I know when we're in the valley it's real hard to see that. But I'm sure you know He will. Prayers are continuing for you both. ~Faith

Bruce received a couple of cards today. It certainly made his day. He was reading them when I arrived this evening. They are now hanging on his cork board.
Bruce was also able to lift his left arm about 3 inches off the bed. It was a lot of work, but he did it.
His sugar is doing well. He is eating small amounts, but still he is eating more than one bite.
I am getting very tired. Between work and hospital, it is getting to be hard to get up in the mornings. I just remember that he is in there and he needs me. Nothing else matters, just being with him so that he knows that I am supporting him in all things.
The Lord is certainly holding both of us up. If not for him, we would be down for the count.
My prayers as well as yours are certainly being realized. The good Lord does answer prayers. Sometimes we just don't get the answer we are looking for. I just continue to pray that the Good Lord gives me the answer I am looking for.

Well I made it to the 6am Mass and the priest made contact with me after wards.Ask me if Bruce was a relative...I said not exactly,he is a friend from the Internet. He gave me a sort of funny look,I had seen before and said "Father, not everything on the Internet is bad". I then started to walk away and he said "apparently not".

Bruce had a night of sleep. So did I. He was averaging 4-5 phone calls all night long. The night before last he called me at midnight, 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 3 a.m., and 445 a.m. Makes for a long day when you have 10 hours of work then going to the hospital.
Last night, however, Bruce fell asleep by 630 p.m. I left at 740 p.m. and he was still asleep. He slept through the night and did not call me all night. We both feel better today.
I called before I left for work this a.m. The doctor was in there at the time. Bruce told me later that the doctor was encouraged and he could see some progress. This is very encouraging.
Bruce also received another card yesterday. These cards really help him, they boost his spirits. Thanks to all for all your prayers and cards. They are very much appreciated.

Bruce is certainly up for visitors. Rehab is real strict about visitation though. Mon-Sat only from 4-8 p.m. Sun from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. He is in therapy for 3-5 hours per day.
He was kind of down tonight. He said that they were doing a psychological test on him to see if he was crazy or not. I told him they were just trying to get a baseline of anything that may have been damaged so that they can better judge his progress. He also stated that they may keep him until the end of summer. I told him that was not going to happen, we had a cannon in the building that said he was going to come home one way or another.
I will find out more about that tomorrow. I have special permission to go to therapy with him tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. as I cannot be present during family therapy time.
Bruce still gets confused and has some trouble processing some information. However, this is better than it was a week ago. He does get excited when I take his pup down to him. I took Leah down tonight. She gets as excited as he does to see her.
Today, being Good Friday, they had a family Easter dinner. Billie and Bryan (a good young man that adopted Bruce and I as his parents) were able to go down and join him. I guess they had ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and hot cherry pie. Bruce ate a decent meal today. I have been trying to take stuff in to him that he likes to eat. He still was not eating too much.
It is hard to see a loved one go through this. We (him especially) has been through so much. Heart attacks, bypass surgery, going paralyzed 18 months ago, now this. How much more can we survive without losing our minds completely?
I'm sorry. I guess I am just feeling sorry for myself right now. The nights are the worst for me. Driving home after dark, coming into a house that he is not in, waking up without him beside me.
Thanks for listening to a whining wife.

Peg, Being concerned about someone you love is not whining..... And as long as Bruce is in your heart, you will never be alone. My prayers continue for you both. John

You just hang in there Peg. Consider it advanced Nurse's Training. It really is a blessing that you know how to handle the situation having been schooled and OJT'd. Bruce is a tough nut and he'll come back better and stronger than before. Tell him you are all in prayer and we look forward to seeing him.

My heart goes out to you Peg; I can see how deeply your love is for Bruce. That makes him one lucky, lucky man!
My prayers continue for Bruce's recovery. I've no doubt that God will see him back to his home and family in time.

Bruce was real glad to see me earlier today. He is playfully arguing with me about the time for me to show up tomorrow. Visiting hours starts at 11 and he keeps saying that he will see me at 10. He is so full of it.
Bruce was up in his wheelchair for over 3 hours today while I was there. He did get tired, however, it was a good tired.
He know has curled up and is going to try to get some sleep. I hope to be able to get some sleep as well. I have tomorrow and Monday off so maybe we will both be able to spend as much time together as we can and enjoy each others company.
We have been married 28 years come November and to this day, he still makes me laugh every day. We finally hung up he phone just 10 minutes ago. He then called me 2 minutes later just so that I would laugh at him again. He says the secret of our being together this long is because he does make me laugh everyday.
Most people don't know, but I am Bruce's third wife and he is my second husband. First husband did not make me laugh daily. Maybe that is the secret. All this time and we still enjoy each others company.
He is improving daily. He can lift his left leg and arm higher than he could two days ago. God is certainly smiling on us both.
This is hoping that all of you have an enjoyable and family filled Easter Sunday. Bruce and I will be together. No fancy dinner necessary, just each others company.
May the good Lord bless you all for your prayers and concern.
Peg
