Hey everyone,
Hope your Easter was a good one. Bruce and I spent over 9 hours together today.
As you can tell, I took the laptop down and he got on line. He had to go do his thing. He read your posts and was quite touched. You will probably be hearing from him on a regular basis again.
He still gets depressed when I have to leave and come home, however, the cell phone certainly does help. We may talk for an hour or two when I get home. We probably won't tonight, we are both too pooped to pop.
Our dinner was special, Bruce had a taco bell soft taco supreme, me I had KFC. But it's not the food its the company.

Missed yesterdays posts due to the whole family invading my home!!.... It was a Polish style breakfast with hard boiled eggs and home made kielbasa, Kolach (cakes) and coffee, then of course a full ham dinner......Anyway, I also hope you had great Easter, seems you did, and I'm glad your definitely improving on a daily basis....Its really great to hear that.... Now Colonel, you and I have to put our heads together and figure out how we could plan a holding action that would keep the both of us out of the hospital!!!

Bruce had a bad day today. He was pretty sick to his stomach. He was able to eat 1/2 of a hamburger and drink almost all of a frosty though when I got there.
He was kind of down, had trouble trying to balance himself sitting up. Still has work to do. However, while I was there he sit on the edge of the bed twice with feet on the floor. He balanced himself with minimal help. He was helping himself. He was also able to skooch up in the bed by himself when he laid back down.
He is doing better. He is just inpatient enough that he wants it all NOW. It is not easy sitting there watching him struggle with the simple things that we all take for granted. It just tears my heart out.
Bruce got another card today. Phil, he got the puppy card. It made his day. He has at least 10 cards on his walls. He does so enjoy them. Thanks for your prayers and cards.

Hey everyone,
I am feeling better everyday. I am quite anxious to get home and get some good food.
Peg was down here all day yesterday. Boy did she give the doc cain. She found out he was giving me morphine every 8 hours. Needless to say, he is not doing that now. He even looked around the corner this morning during rounds to see if she was sitting here beside me.
I was up and took a few steps today. Not every graceful, but progress.
Thanks everyone for the cards. They really make me feel like I am not in this alone. Your support in words and prayers has really helped me and Peg both. Without it, I am sure that things would not be progressing as quickly as they are.
Next Thursday, we are having another conference and they are to tell us what they think about a discharge date. Peg says she is shooting for May 15. We will see what they say now and then we will find out who will win this argument. My bets are on Peg. What do you think?

Hey everyone,
Bruce had a blue day yesterday. It was his day off and I had to work so I could not get there earlier than usual.
The past two nights I have taken supper down for him. He has ate well. Of course, he has lost over 10 pounds in a couple of weeks.
He is getting anxious to come home. Forget the 15th, we are now shooting for his weekend. He is getting so excited, he is counting the minutes not the days.
We are supposed to have a meeting on Thursday to discuss discharge, however, there is going to be a discharge this weekend.
Bruce is getting some movement in the left leg. His left arm is also moving more. Grip is getting stronger.
Thanks for all you have done.
Peg

Hey everyone,
Bruce sent the laptop home tonight. We are slowly bringing stuff home so that we don't have to try and pack it all in the car at once.
He is so depressed about being there. They were trying to get him hooked on MS Contin 60 mg. Believe it or not, they were giving it to him three times a day, scheduled even if he didn't need it for pain control. Then the dumb heads were wondering why he was falling asleep. I was starting to wonder if his mind had been affected more by the stroke then I originally thought. I found out about the drug schedule and put a halt to it. I now have my husband back. They were trying to make him an addict. They were doing a good job of it too.
They tried electrical stimulation on his left arm today. There was success. The muscles were jumping and moving like they should. He is now making a fist with his left hand, not a tight one but a fist.
This discharge meeting may not go as the hospital has planned. This chick is pissed off. I am tired of Bruce calling for a nurse and them taking too long to answer the call that accidents happen. This embarrasses him and makes the staff look bad. They are short staffed and does not help any. They are also leaving him sitting on the stool alone and that is a no-no. If he falls, it is their butts.
Therapy is making progress with Bruce, however, they treat myself and Billie Jo like this is our first "rodeo". He wasn't paralyzed 18 months ago and we did not help him any at all. I have also worked as an aide and so has Billie, and now have been schooled as a Nurse. I know range of motion, how to transfer, and numerous other tricks. People just needs to get their heads out of their butts and books and listen to their patients and families.
I am sorry for complaining so long, I am just tired and needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for all your prayers and cards, they have really meant the world to both Bruce and I.
Thanks again,
Peg
