Be vewy, vewy quiet... ;D Just got a message over e-bay today that a guy who bought my acent killed a wide racked 8pt. Said a small doe came in following the scent trail he'd lay'ed out and the buck was following the doe...pretty cool! ;D

we have to be real careful about what we use as lure...well except in 2 zones, if it can be or perceived as being able to be eaten then it's bait and not allowed in 85% of the state...along our gold coast I suppose it wouldn't matter except for the amount used...
this whole season has been strange to a point...bucks are still working their rub lines and we have seen very few scrapes...gonna use some orbit lure on a couple of the rubs and set up on them..this and next week...trying to piss this big old feller into messing up...he's got an 8" dia black beech completely ringed... from 10" off the ground up to about 40" high....ML season starts this morning so I'm heading out just a dawn...

just got the stats from the archery season so far seems the the bow take was equal (within 4 deer) buck to doe..of the bucks taken (adult mature) 37% were 8 point and above...kinda freaky that it's up that high this year...normally runs in the low 20s... was out yesterday afternoon had a mid sized 6 point hang up on me in the bottom..playing tag with the wind all afternoon...he'd come out of the thick stuff stand and scan for a moment then slide back in then out and then in...wouldn't cross over the dry creek bed and move on...then got busted by a really nice big doe from behind when I stood up...after hours heading out spotted 2 doe in the swamp bottom..just hanging around..too late and actually no shot present... I was goning to head out this morning but woke up in so much pain, hurt in every joint in my body...it's cold and it's damp as hell, rained a bit last night and some today so that's were that came from...s;posed to clear out by late tonight and dry up some...gonna be breezy in the morning but I think I'll be able to stand it...

We have two more days of gun this week-end. I can not figure out if you can use antlerless permits already purchased or if they just can not be used now. Be looking for horns just to stay on the safe side.

I have not taken the time to look it up, but everyone around here says "YES" you can use that doe permit during muzzleloader. Course it probably won't do us any good no how being the suburbanites moved in on top of us again this morning and are seeing how much powder they can waste. Hoping they all catch pneumonia camping out in the rain.

Ohhh brother! Spent a last weekend trying to explain to my son-in-law what a Buckeye means when they talk about "FIELD RATS". Then had to explain the difference between a "field rat" and a "tree rat". Sounds like Kentucky is pretty well hunted out on both. What ones are left are few & far between, and small.
Wish I'd of had him with me last night. Had to go for a little drive and meditation through Pokepatch at around midnight. Everywhere the headlights shined, hundreds of glowing field rat eyes were looking back at me.

They keep on populating like that they soon will be no bigger than rats. WVA deer are real small now.
