Well went out yesterday morning. Was still dark and could see deer moving with the bino's but couldn't make out gender. As it got lighter there were A lot of does moving saw around twenty does and yearlings. Had two forkhorns and A six point come by and walk right under me. At eight oclock A nice eight point came in and made A scrape he started coming toward me and let him get to about twenty yards and took his heart out he never knew what hit him. I just love that up clost and personal business ;D. Did have A big bodied Deer hang up back in the brush when the Does were moving around but he never gave me A good look at himself. Could see horns and large body with bino's he could be the ten point that I passed up last year. Still have three Doe tags and one Buck tag left so will be saving the Buck tag for A Really good one.

Oh man I'm getting that pucker factor again. Will not get out to shoot before December. Lots of deer around though. Should be able to tag out if I can just get the time to get in the woods. Think I'm goingto do some 3 or 4 day camp outs sthis season just to be there when it gets light.

Dammit, ;D you must be having a banner year, Bill! I take it the deer are fairly small? I would have to get another freezer if I harvetsed 5 deer. Our deer up here average about 150lbs for a doe and 185 and up for bucks

I hunted hard a few days ago, and saw NOTHING! And when I got home, my Dad had left me a voice mail that he had several nice deer grazing in his front yard that day. How did "my" deer get from my 30 acre overgrown farm all the way to my Dad's 1 acre yard in the suburbs of Nashville 60 miles away!?!?!? Except for my chance shot at the fox, I'm having terrible luck this year.

Took an 8 point yesterday afternoon. Not a huge rack, but a big body.
Was quite an exciting afternoon. Had a flock of 32 turkeys come in and mill around under my stand, then flew up to their roost all around me. Had one sit about 15 yds away from me at eye level with my tree stand. I kept telling him to shoo. He finally moved farther away.
Had a six point come by, then met up with another 6 about 60 yds away. They did some sparring then turned and walked away.
Two does passed behind me a few minutes later, so I turned around figuring a buck would be following. Nothing!
10 minutes later a doe bust out of the woods and runs hell bent election past my stand. This time the 8 point was following and I was able to get a good heart shot at 20 yds. Went about 50 yds and piled up. Sure was a great afternoon

Bad news was I sliced my thumb open field dressing the last doe. Didn't really need sewed but went to the E.R. anyway as it's been over 7 years since my last tetnus shot. 23 years gutting deer and didn't even get a scratch until now. Nurse gave me the shot but I still had to see the doctor so I waited, for three hours, gave up and walked out. What really stinks is it was a male nurse. The buck goes into jerky and sausage for the landowner. I don't care for buck meat so it works out pretty good. I will cut off the tenderloins from the does then one goes into nothing but burger and the other one gets a standard butchering, steaks, roasts, chops. Nothing beats a fresh venison tenderloin, slow cooked served on homemade bread with homemade butter maybe with a slice of onion. Sorry Paws no garlic here.
