Caught my freakin' cousin poaching last night on my place. He's done! Seems like this boy has just got to defy authority, rule, law, etc. I don't know what makes some tick I really don't.

Well I have not been here for awhile thought that it was time for an update. As of yesterday (sat) the total for my place has been 11 deer 6 does and 5 bucks this is myself and 2 of my son's plus 2 friends. No real big one's, so far all spikes or 3 point's, but heck they still fill the freezer. Still have untill Jan. 1st. to get a big rack.

Darn Jack! That's spooky although I'm sure there are a lot more of them out there. I hope by some quirk of fate he manages to read this and gets to see what an asshole he is!

#6 is on the ground. Good sized button buck, should be good eating. Got this one at Chain Of Lakes state park. A couple of hunters pushed a nice buck out in front of me. It was wounded and limping pretty bad but those yahoo's wouldn't let it lay down. I shot at it three times trying to put it down but it made it to the swamp and will probaly die in there. To much brush to know if I hit it for sure. Bad part of it is the so called hunters didn't bother to even start tracking it in the swamp. Just hit the edge and left. I climbed down and looked for it for an hour before I gave up. I could hear it running through the brush and was hoping to run it back out of the swamp to somebody but I lost track of it. I don't think it ever left the swamp.

Unfortunately our hunting fraternity has lots of a$$holes like that. Every year after gun season I find deer that have died from gunshot wounds when I'm out trapping. Lots of times I find does that have been killed out right and left to rot becuase the a$$hole didn't have a doe permit. Foot prints in the snow come within 15ft of the carcass and then turn around. JUST REALLY PI$$ES ME OFF! Too many people to flucking lazy to follow up on a shot to see of the animal was hit ot too flucking lazy to look more than 10yds from where they saw it .

I have no use for scum that disrespect the game, the laws and good hunters. A few years ago, a fellow I worked with wanted to go hunting with me and my brother in law. We went muzzleloader season, and he shot a doe. The doe ran about 50 yds and fell and he shot it again! When it was on the ground. As I went over to help him, he was loading up for a third shot. I told him, "Don't shoot that deer again!" That's when he asked who wanted to tag the deer. I said it's your deer, you tag it. He answered, "I don't want to keep it. I just like to shoot them." I told him if he didn't tag it, I was calling the game warden and reporting him. He finally did, but that's the last time he ever huntd with us.

I used to know a guy kinda like that. He thought it was okay to do anything illegal when it came to hunting and fishing.
I took him to a favorite spot of mine fishing one time and that was the last time I went anywhere with him.
We hiked in six miles to a lake that was chock full of gigantic greyling. They were so thick at the mouth that you could nearly walk on them. However, we couldn't seem to get them to hit anything which is real unusual because a greyling is one of those type of fish that will hit just about anything.
Anyway, this guy decided he would just tie on a large treble hook and snag a few of them. I told him I didn't think that was a good idea but he just looked at me and smiled.
There were a couple of other guys out there too and they were watching what he was doing. As soon as he landed the first fish one of those guys just happened to be a warden. Took his fishing gear and gave him a ticket. That was the first and last time I went anywhere with him and it was a long quiet six mile hike back to the car. Except for the times I called him an idiot, an a$$hole and several other things.
You'd think he would learn after that but no he didn't.
I was reading the paper one day and there was an article about a guy that had killed a sheep in a no hunting area. Same guy. The kicker to this one was that this place was called Sheep Mountain and there was a lodge at the foot of it with those quarter telescopes for tourists to look through. Apparently, a bunch of tourists watched him through the telescope and saw him shoot the sheep, cape it out and then carry the cape and horns down the mountain. The friendly game warden was waiting for him when he got to the bottom.
You'd think he would learn after that but no, he didn't.
I was reading another article in the paper a couple years later about a guy who poached a gigantic bull moose in a closed area just outside of Anchorage. Same guy. This time he lost all his hunting priviledges in Alaska for life and was given a healthy fine and some jail time.
But, truthfully I doubt he learned anything after that.
There was a quote in the paper from him that went something like this, "I don't know why I do it, it's like being a drug addict or something. If I see a trophy I just have to have it." Oh yeah, he was a taxidermist.

Some people shoudn't even be allowed to hunt. Most of them don't have any tracking skills and don't even bother to learn. They don't know nothing about shot placement or where to shoot the game they are after. Or gut shoot the deer because they don't practice just pick up their gun and where ever it shoots is good enough. I have some yahoos on the lease i'mm on that hunt with 222's and they have crippled more deer than they have ever killed. They make me sick and that's one of the reasons among many other ones that I won't be on this lease next year.

Well, I'm off to Kansas tomorrow for a week of pursuing the wily old Kansas whitetail and hopefully popping a few varmints.
So you won't be getting any exhilarating commentary from me for a few days. Somebody please keep the "One Day When" thread going. It will be interesting to see where the gang shows up next, who knows maybe they'll all be in Kansas with me. Or maybe it will just be CG and Jean and if that's the case tell them to leave their whips and lariats at home.
See you next week.

Another one in the meat larder. ;D Had 9 deer in front of me this afternoon. Took a doe, about 115lbs out with the bow. She was barren as can be and fat as a little butterball. Should be darn good chewing! Two tags to go and right at 4 weeks to fill them!

Well, I'm back from Kansas. Had a great time but decided to leave the deer there. Actually, didn't see anything. Not even a doe. Lot's of tracks and sign but no deer.
I've got one more gun season here at home the week between Xmas and New Years so will have to give that a try. Then, of course bow season is open until 2/15 so there is still hope. I'll just have to keep trying.
Glad to see the "One day when" is still going. Not sure which direction it's going but still fun to read.

I went to Wal-Mart a couple days after Christmas and saw that they had one TSC Brickhouse blind left. They were originally priced at $129.00 then marked down to $99.00 a few days before Christmas. I asked the clerk if they were still $99.00 or did they mark them down again? She scanned the one remaining and said it was still $99.00 but that she could mark it down to $75.00. I said, "It's mine". Not a bad deal huh? I plan to take it out this weekend when the boys and I go on the free youth deer hunt.
