Guess I've cut up my share of animals so it was my turn to get cut up. Like trapping, sooner or later you will get your fingers pinched. Just more concerned with all these "new" diseases running around. Going up to Michigan in a few hours to hopefuly thin their herd a little.

SCORE!! I killed a 10-point buck yesterday morning. I had only been sitting at my spot for a little over an hour when he came in. The .243 I won two years ago is no longer a virgin. That is the gun I used to shoot the deer. The rack, while not Boone and Crockett fits my record book. It has an inside spread of about 13 or 14 inches. When I take the head to my taxidermist I'll ask him what the measurements are. I told my hunting buddy I figure the deer to weigh about 150# but after dragging it as far as I had to I think it weighed closer to 300# ;D

Congratulations Carter. Sounds like a monster to me. You are definitely right about how they gain weight though when you start dragging them out of the woods. Funny how that happens.
Wish I would have had the opportunity to tell a similar story but unfortunately didn't happen. Well, there is always next week.

It felt good when I took my deer to the processor that people were admiring "MY" deer. That is the first time. Don't worry Rich, you'll get yours too.

There are all kinds of deer here, some places it is just a matter of picking which one you want. Although it seems most of the deer I have seen this year in shooting range have been on the small side.

CONGRATS on the deer Carter sure glad to hear you finally got a good one. Just got back last night from my hunt in ILL. My luck is still holding out up there got an eight point and a very large doe. They said at the check station that it was the biggest doe they had seen. This makes five years running that I have lucked out ;D

3 dogs,
Congratulations on your success in Illinois. Those big old corn fed critters will most likely be delectable.
