I'm still around. Been doing some studying for tomorrow. You know, God just doesn't open up my head and pour in knowledge. I have to study, pray and think on what the Word says so that I can present it properly.
Hey, Brian, can I have one of those peaches before you give them all to Miss Faith? I sure do like a good sweet ripe peach.
I can't stay much longer tonight. I have to go in and take a good bath. It's Saturday. so you all know what that means. Its time for Paws weekly bath. So while I'm away ya'll give that ole repobate a good bath.
I ain't got to leave just yet though. Woinder if I'm going to get to see the fun ya'll have giving Paws his bath?

UH um Toby.... That there was some old coon renderin's mixed with sap from a skeeter bush that I use to keep the fleas and chiggers off of Shadow and to slick his coat. Works good for that but you need to boil it and cool it a little before you use it on the dog. I even put some baking soda in to kinda ease the smell a little. It'll mellow out in a couple hours either way though. Just keep in mind that Shadow likes the taste and that's not Miss Louisiana snuggling up and licking on you later this evening.....LOL You say you heard an airboat? They won't get this far in with that, the brush is too low over the creek and the stumps too thick on the sides. That's why the pirogues and john boats. Happy Momma's day Miss Faith. I think for breakfast tomorrow, I'm gonna fix you up with a nice goose egg omlet, stuffed with cheddar cheese, saute'd apple and cinnimon. On the side some good ol' fashioned home fried taters and texas type toast from this here loaf of homemade bread Miss Kathy sent down. (Keep your fingers out of it till tomorrow Toby. ;D Speaking of Toby, did you get that slab of bacon finished up pal??? It would go good with Miss Faiths omlet. You know preacher, if your going to come on back tomorrow night or monday morning, you can take my pirough and float down the creek to your ride. Just stay to the left at every branch except the 4th one and there you go right. You know by the twisted oak? I figure after almost a week down here in the swamp with all of us, Preacher Freddie's only problem with his sermon is going to be picking out what one the things we got into to talk about. Goodness knows we can be a bunch of sermon builders. But we have good hearts and intentions, just don't always know how to apply them. I figure in the morning after breakfast, we should grab a couple sacks of corn and acorns and go feed them hogs. water them too. It's a sporty chore but we got them penned up so we gotta take care of them. In about a week they'll ALMOST let you in the pen with them. In a month they will. Well, except that old sow in the south trap. She's too set in her ways to change and the only way you can get close to her is after she's hanging. You know what?? This would be a good time to gather up all the left overs and garbage to take with us in the morning. Them hogs will clean it all up. Just be sure we set it down wind and out of the camp. I best get going to run them trott lines, hoop nets and crawfish traps. I got some sweet corn on the cob that we can mustard coat and fry up with some fish if you want too Miss Faith.

I'll tote that garbage for you Brian. I need the excercise and want to at least act like I'm earning my keep. Miss Faith don't abide no slackers and if I want to get close to them brandied peaches I better get off my tail!
Freddie, please do me a favor and include a prayer for all of us around here while you're throwin' down the gospel. I'd go with you for a good listen, but this dog soap Brian lent me's got me stinkin' worse than a can full of stink bait! I guess I could stand in the door, but I'll wait and when you get back maybe we can pass the Good Book around the fire at night and each of us read a piece and talk on it some.
Brian, I went to get me a hunk of that honey comb, but it was just about gone. There's some cub tracks yonder on the mud back of that north flowing bayou. Might want to keep an eye out on our vittles stash at night or we're liable to get raided.
Be rihgt back, I'll go feed them hogs.

Whew! That was sure one fine breakfast, Brian! I haven't eaten that much for breakfast since I was a girl and had to outrun all those scrawny necked, good for nothin' boys back home! I'm about ready to burst I'm so full. Think I'll stretch out on this big log and sun myself a spell while y'all are taking care of business.
Toby, if you look in that poke over there by them peaches, there's a spool of rope so we can hang the viddles high and out of those cubs reach. Who's got a good arm? Someone's gotta get that rope waaay up there over that cypress branch.

I got a good arm, bu poor aim. Why don't you just skin Brian up that tree. He's got the least to try and haul up there with him. Poor little feller looks like a whole family of Mexicans done moved out of the back of his britches!
Soon as he gets down, poke that last slice of pie down his neck and see he gets a double helping of them peaches.
The hogs is all fed and still fat. Brian's right about that sow. She's a mean one. I reckon I ought to knock her in the head tomorrow, but I'll wait to see what Brian wants to do about her.
Where'n the heck is he anyway?

You know Toby, I don't think that sow is very far from throwing a litter. What do you think of wrestling her down and dragging her to the big pen over by the creek??? If you can hold her, I'll get a sack over her head and tie her feet, she'll settle down enough to drag her over there. I think she's going to drop in the next few days. Mandy mentioned that she may be down with Lil' Bit. Depends if the weather. I need to get a play yard area cleaned up and ready for when she gets here. I got some sulfer powder to put around the place to keep the snakes out of play area. How 'bout that flat spot over there? Got shade and sun and it's easy to watch from anywhere in camp. Mandy also said something about the dew berries being almost ready, Maybe she'll find some. I DO love a nice cobbler. You know Miss Faith, that hammock over there on the dogwood tree is open, Help yourself. Hmmmmmmm, dewberry cobbler.....

Naw suh! I'd rather wrastle that old sow out there in that pen than take a chance on 'sturbin that lady's sleep!
Looky hear, I'd just as soon load up that small pen with some fresh pine needles and leave that ornry sow alone. Even if we don't get chewed up, she's liable to hurt herself or them pigs if she gets tossed around too much.
I'm gonna slip off to that bend in the bayou where your catfish are holdin' and see about catching a mess of stumpknockers.
I get a mess ready for the pan, I'll get that flat spot cleared for your little darlin' and you can set them fish to fryin'.
Reckon I can borrow that spinning rig you got yonder?

Go for it pal. There's a "fishin' stick" or hand line there too if you like. Just walk around that tree and you'll find some sort of fish gettin' gear. You know that bend is a good bream hole too. There's some fat red ears and shell crackers. Crickets are in the basket and worms are in the can. If you want to have some fun, throw you a jitter bug through there and hold on tight. Them gar will knock it out of the water.

No thanks on the gar fishin'. They're plenty of fun, but too much trouble to clean.
I got me a taster set for some bluegills and such and they just ain't nothin' else'll do.
I done spotted me a comfy log down yonder and it looks like a good spot to spend the mornin'. If you need me and I get to snoozin', you just holler at me. I wake up pretty easy.

A little off key there Gramps! ;D Anybody got some chicken soup? I need a good dose of country penecillen really bad. Thought I was improving then my whole head plugged up today. Cousin Jimmy, his wife and kids all have strep.

Paws, you need to drink a big glass of orange juice and Jack Daniels, then go back to bed!
If that don't get you feelin' better, go see your doctor and ask for 250mg Keflex TID X 6D. That'll knock out any strep.
Gramps, I agree with Paws, that was a little off key, but that youngun don't seem to mind none the way she was grinning.
You know the crawdad song? I couldn't get the fish to bite, so I ran your traps and looky here, we got us a pretty big haul. Time to fire that big ketle back up!

Don't know the song but I do know the recipe. Need to cook a few pork ribs up for Lil'Bit. She just loves to gnaw on the bones and pop a tooth or 2 through, Chicken bones too. Paws, My Daddy always recommended a spoon of honey, a dash of tobasco, a 1/4 spoon of horse radish and a jigger of white lightning. He figured if it didn't cure you, you wouldn't really care....LOL
